Awesome vid mate I would love to get out there with you and show you how I catch them on hard body's. Zerek ripper diver 90ml 5mt drop can be absolutely deadly out in the bay! I would love to see more vids keep up the awesome work.

Another great video mate. I have gone fishing with plastics in Moreton bay a few times chasing snapper and never do any good. Good to see you have got it figured out. I’m pretty sure your fishing the southern bay. How do you know where to stop and fish? When you see fish/bait on the sounder?
@bowlysfishing5 жыл бұрын
Peter Majzner thanks Peter. When I’m fishing that really shallow water, I just cast because I know there’s fish there from years of fishing the area. Plus you don’t really wanna motor over the top of snapper in 3-4 metres and under because you can spook them. In deeper water I will sound them up before I cast though.

Thanks for the reply mate. That makes sense. Do you have any suggestions where to start looking in the southern Bay Area? I find it so frustrating not catching and not knowing where to fish! Cheers mate and Keep the videos coming 👍🎣

You ever tried small hardbody lures for snapper in less than 2m? I've had a lot of success using this method around Goat for the last few years. Needs some finesse. Snaps to 60cm...
@bowlysfishing5 жыл бұрын
Peter Hansen nice mate. I’ve tried a little bit, had no success. I’m keen to give it a crack, just need some new smaller jerkbaits.

is there a certain place that snapper prefer like under bridge pilons reefs
@bowlysfishing4 жыл бұрын
Koesloe Simmons yeah near pylons in certain areas for sure. Reefs are a very popular area where in the right areas and times of year you can encounter snapper.

Line strength in pounds, rod length in feet, jig weight in ounces. Don't we use metric in Australia?
@bowlysfishing3 жыл бұрын
Please go to a tackle store in Australia and ask for a line in kilograms, a rod length in cm’s and jig heads in grams and then see what they say :)

@@bowlysfishing Yeah well we only dropped imperial measurements 1970, so perhaps it is taking a while to catch on for fishos. Will the same tackle store charge me in shillings and pence?

Hey mate, I'm having a lot of trouble chasing these buggers. I go out a lot on my own and I've been trying different spots but I just can't seem to crack them. I'm quite sure I've got the technique down, I have caught about 20 little 20cm squire, but can't seem to find anything bigger. I am currently just going around to different islands casting into the shallow edges of the islands and letting my plastic drop off the edge of the rocky reef. I seem to have a bit better luck at high tide, but struggling at low tide. I've noticed on navionics there are a few bits that come up just off the islands. Are you fishing those, or do you fish the actual skirts of the islands where they drop off? Any advice on low tide? Also, any advice on wind directions & tide? Sorry for the lengthy questions. I know in your video you said generally to cast into the shallower stuff on a run in tide, and fish the drop offs at high tide. I'm just wondering about these drop offs, are they generally bommies a few metres off the islands, or are they the skirts of the islands themselves? I literally go out for 12 hour days and catch 1 or 2 little ones. Do you find specific areas hold larger fish, or where there are little ones, there are big ones? I'm happy to do the searching myself, would just really appreciate a little guidance as to how I go about looking for them. Again, sorry for the lenghty message. Just right into chasing these things at the moment and it's been a tough slog trying to work them out.

Just thought I'd add. When I'm casting on the shallow flats, I seem to get an absolute shit load of pike. They're constantly hitting my plastics. If I'm getting hit by pike, is that a sign I'm in the wrong place?
@bowlysfishing4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, lots packed in there. For the most part, you will tend to find you’ll get bigger fish in the deeper water in that 8-20+ metres kinda range. For fishing in shallow, it can be a little different from island to island but generally a run in or close to the top of the tide in low light i fish right in shallow from 0.5 of a metres up to around 4 metres on the weed/reef/rock flats. On a run out I would be concentrating my efforts to the edge of those flats where the water & bait would be coming right into the fishes faces. No need to put in 12 hour days fishing shallow, by 8-9 I would definitely be looking deep/deeper. Don’t really ever fish anything under kinda 4 metres if the sun is right up. The better fish that were up shallow would have gone deeper by then. Hope this helps 👌🏼
