The quality of this particular amp model is something the Helix really can't reach yet. I love my HX Stomp, but the dynamic response of the Axe-FX (with proper tweaking) is phenomenal!

I think I hear the answer to the question... AxeFX or Helix. I have been back and forth on this analyzing them and it comes down to the last few examples you fellows uploaded. The Axe FX it is.

There’s a bit of a bite on the high mids that was quite present on all the guitars used for this. I’m generally a fan of your presets but this has a nasal transistor radio sound to it that I’m kinda surprised to hear from your offerings. That all said, thank you for all you guys do to put in the time and make these.

How much do you lose on an AX8 with one of these patches? I’m donating my Helix to my church for the other Guitarists to use and I need to come up with something else for my personal use. Worried about running out of DSP to put in pedals on the AX8 but don’t want to drop the dollars on an FXIII.

Brandon Pérez Helix doesn’t have this amp model in it, so it would be hard to replicate it exactly.

I am very seriously considering canceling my Quad Cortex order and going with the AXFX 3 MK2. I wondered what you guys think? I know you probably can’t say much if you have any agreements with the companies. And would an FC6 suffice or do you think a 12 is necessary.

I think the answer to that question would honestly vary depending on who you ask. Personally, Axe-FX iii is my (Brian’s) preferred modeler, and I don’t see that changing. I like the FC12 personally, but the FC6 would work depending on how much access you want at your feet. We don’t have any format agreements with any of the companies. Some of them send us gear to demo in videos, but we are not beholden to any of them to say one thing or another.

@@worshiptutorials thanks for the reply. The AXFX seems daunting which is all that holds me back. I had the AX8 but kept the Helix (just got your new Orange amp patch today….might be my favorite you have done but at 58 I have a harder rock background). The Ax8 was impossible to tweak live and I found the entire interface (even with the PC app) confusing. I bought every patch because I never got gain staging down on the AX8. I am fine with the Helix and that makes QC appealing I think.
