Holy crap - I just got my FM3, so much to learn, I can't even believe it. However, the tones are so good right out of the box. Leon - I can see how much value you bring to the Fractal community and business, your's are clearly the best and most informative videos. I hope Fractal is treating you well!

Once I understood that a preset is all about specific wiring of specific blocks this whole scene/channel/preset made total sense to me. You want to have a block in a different position in your chain? You need a new preset for that. You want to switch specifics of a block but keep its position? You can do that in the same preset using either scenes or channels or both. Channels are just a convenient additional way of grouping block settings together.

Hello Leon let me first say that you are one of the best instructors/teachers on the internet. You do such a great job with this stuff and make it look so easy. However, imho Fractal has made this too complicated or shall I say too many options. The quality of the models and effects is the draw for me. I just wish it was as easy to program as say the boss MS-3. Amazing little unit and so easy to program. I am old school though I realize that. I allow myself 4 presets per song generally..twin, plexi, modern high gain, and solo type tones each with say song specific effects/modifiers per patch. With the axefx 3 these 4 variations can be set up per preset. I guess I would like to see the fc12 templates cause I would want two switches set up for bank up and down and say two more for instant cc modifiers. Head is spinning.

Wow. I'm really impressed at the power and depth of control you have. Too too cool. The interface kinda reminds me of some of the advanced IDEs or integrated development environments for databases I've used when I worked in the IT field. .Having done programming and a little low level stuff I really respect the engineers at Fractal.. Fractal is expensive, compared to other modelers, but one can see why it's so prefered to use. So powerful, and so flexible. Just too Damn cool.. Man, if I ever win the lottery I'm going to buy a bunch of guitars and an AxeFx and pay you laids of money to help me set it up for me and all the killer musicians I hire to jam with for free shows I pay for ..hahaha.. Very very cool sir.. Tell your father I said hello and that he's a very talanted man with his wood working skills and lutheiry. I dig that double neck he made and really really love that green strat with the cool inlay on the neck.. Sometine I would love to see a close up if that inlay.. I wanted to ask. Is the AxeFx ultra realistic with the amp models it has, and does it still have the cool interactive feel and power amp adjustment like sag, etc? I ask because I'm thinking one of those used might still be better than some of the newer " other brand modelers"... Thanks so much man.. Would be cool to see how you can use this with a software to automate switching automatically at a show using midi. Take care sir..

This might be a dumb question but when the FM3 was announced I was going to get one so I waited and waited and waited then I signed up on the waiting list (and I'm still waiting) in the interim I got a Amplifire 12 at a really good price. I'm pretty much happy with it however I watch all your FX III and FM3 videos and you make them look and sound great. Should I better yet would you pass on the FM3 when your name is called or should I "You" sell the AA 12 and get the FM3??? Here's a added twist to this also been looking at and thinking about the Helix LT and just recently been reading up on the new Neural DSP Quad Cortex which on paper looks amazing but it won't be out until September at the earliest unless it turns into a FM3 situation. Should point out that whichever one I end up with it will be used for home playing, not in a band or anything.

I can give you some general advice. EQ your output to match the frequency response of a guitar speaker. Cut frequencies < 100K and above about 5K. Not a total cut but about 3db per 1K. Tweak to taste. Also, use a compressor in front of your amp it will add depth and warmth in the guitar freq range. Sounds crazuy, but it works.

So how does this compare to a Boss GT 1000 by the way? I’m thinking the amps are much, much better but it has less processing power for reverbs and delays and other effects and again I’m worried about switching from a wet preset to a dry preset and not having the reverb/delay bleed over

Great video! A question please, among the 8 possible scenes within a preset, can I save changes to the parameters of more than one effects? (eg scene 1.. more delay and more reverb, scene 2.. more drive on amp and delay off) Or can I save only parameter changes related to the amp (using ABCD channels)? In this case, these scene controls would not be very similar to the helix snapshots, right? I know it's an incredible piece of equipment. But i would like to understand what i can save and how i can save in fractal scenes please. And you know this equipment very well! Congratulations on your channel.

They're different to snapshots on the Helix. You can have totally different models and parameters per channel, and there's also "scene controllers" which let you do some stuff similar to snapshots.

Another great vid. You have me wanting to switch from quad to the Fractal now even though the interface looks sub optimal. Can you do a video and expound on limitations and this 80% processor thing? Realistically I’d love two Amps at once bla bla (we all overindulge when presented with a buffet 😂)… but I would be just fine if I can dial in even 90% of the tones you present here. I’m just not sure how the processor limit works - if I choose 4 different amps on channels in a scene and then just switch between them during songs would I have no issues? Or is it a thing where choosing more causes problems … like show your presets as is without problems but then adding which effects would push you over the processor limit? The one scenario I can see is trying to use fuzz and octave for some more extreme Effect scenarios (ie Muse)?

Thanks for the video, super helpful! Quick question on controllers - do the channels of an amp block store their knob positions independently? So I could change values manually and have it carry through to a new scene that changes to say block b? Or is that why you need the controllers to actually modify those values as channels switch?

very cool..im wondering how do you get around to all the scenes and channels with only 3 buttons on the fm3? also, when you are talking controller, is it a term for just internal controlling?...very cool stuff, i guess i gotta go find your other video on the external foot switches.

I use my mastermind GT in song/setlist mode. If I integrate this with a fractal, with my "songs" be the scenes or presets in the Fractal? Right now on the mastermind, I pick a song on the Setlist and it brings up my 4 presets that switch my looper/midi devices. I'm looking to replace all that with a fractal. But still use the song list feature on the Mastermind. Just trying to figure out how to set that up with the fractal the same way

Ahhhhhhh man. Spoke to AUS supplier and they seemed pissed at the tiny supply we got here vs the want for one. I have a box full of pedals plus HD500 and cbf getting it all out and setting it up. Got laptop back and considered neural dps options but would prefer something separate.

Nice playing and demonstration!! Do you know why FM3 is more expensive in Europe than the USA ?
@LeonTodd
@LeonTodd 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Fractal are based in the USA and sell direct there, so I imagine the lack of tariffs, taxes and overheads vs their EU distributor contributes to that. G66 provide great service as I understand it.

Leon, would you show how you set up scenes for your live presets? I am having a hard time figuring out how to make scenes change parameters in my presets!
@LeonTodd
@LeonTodd 2 жыл бұрын
Scenes aren't the same as something like snapshots in the Helix. They control the bypass state and channel of any block. For example, if you want a Tubescreamer in the drive block on scene 1 and a RAT on scene 2, setup two channels on the FM3 - A with TS, B with RAT. Then on scene 1, set the drive channel to A. Set the drive channel to B on scene 2.
@robertsimpson5801
@robertsimpson5801 2 жыл бұрын
@@LeonTodd ah, I think I get it! So if you wanted to turn up the gain on your tube screamer (which is in channel A) when you switch from scene 1 to scene 2, you would put a tube screamer in another channel (channel B), adjust the settings as desired, and then have the channel switch from A to B from Scene 1 to Scene 2?
@LeonTodd
@LeonTodd 2 жыл бұрын
@@robertsimpson5801 correct! There's also "scene controllers" which you can attach to a parameter, like the amp gain, and have it change per scene.

I sold my Boss GT 1000 on Reverb a month ago ago and still on the waiting list for this FM3 however now I’m worried that there’s going to be a one second gap between switching presets after listening to switching delay on this video.

I got a question. Why are the Time and Modulation based Effects placed BEHIND the Cab? Shouldn't they be placed between Amp and Cab?
@LeonTodd
@LeonTodd Жыл бұрын
Cabinets IR's are linear time-invariant filters, so placing them before or after time based efefcts makes no difference sonically. It means I can use a single mono cab IR and have stereo time based effects.

Leon When I edit a block or add a block in a scene why does it change all scenes within a preset? I want to make a change in a scene without making any change in the other scene-
@LeonTodd
@LeonTodd 7 ай бұрын
Scenes just control the bypass state and channel selected in a block. If you dial in channel A of a particular block, that persists across all scenes. It's a different paradigm to "snapshots"
