H/H match update: ... Today's action: Second day running we start right off with the H/H match! Recap: Yesterday our champ picked Richard and scored a $5,000 match. Now he's playing for another $2,500... He sticks with Richard who has been on a hot streak lately, matching six of his past ten attempts. Today's (first) H/H question: "__________ Ranger" (My first thought was forest ranger, so I'll go with that.) Richard is apparently amused by something. His answer? He's smiling as he writes. The champion comes up with a great response: "Lone" Ranger. Weird that I didn't think of that, since the Lone Ranger is a frequent source of questions in the regular game. I have a feeling Richard will have thought of it. (The audience seems enthusiastic at least.) Yes, indeed! Richard scores his 177th H/H match. ~~~ But our two-time champion couldn't make it three, and so goes home with a respectable $8,450. A new champion stands at the ready. Today's audience match question: "Andy _________" (My thoughts: Griffith, Warhol, ??? I can't think of another Andy who was well-known in 1976.) The celebs: Richard (Hardy), Fannie (Williams), and Charles (Devine) The choice: Williams The answers: Devine, Williams, Griffith Now the guessing game: Is our new champion going to select Richard for the H/H? I think it's likely, but Fannie might be a possibility. She picks Richard. Today's (second) H/H question: "__________ Tank" (That seems hard. My first thought was armored tank or something like that, but it seems improbable. How about gas tank? Sounds common and generic. Pretty much everyone had a car with a gas tank and there was that gas crisis throughout the early 1970s, so people were keeping a close eye on their gas tanks. I also thought of water tank, but I'll go with gas.) Richard makes up his mind fairly quickly. Our champ enthusiastically says "gas." The crowd offers only a modest round of applause. Richard is looking at Fannie with a bemused expression... He explains that he's upset with himself because he first wrote "Gas" but tossed it for... "Fish." No match this time. Confused about the new contestant at the end. Don't ask about the age of my daughter but she has 7 grandchildren? Whaaaa? And even if it is a 'mis-speak' (she says it twice) and she meant to say that she (herself) has 7 grandchildren, she also says her son is 20 and her daughter is just a 'few' years older. So, her daughter, who I would guess is 25 at most based on what Juanita said, has 7 kids? I mean, yeah, a couple sets of twins or triplets would add up quick, but wouldn't you mention that when talking about that many kids?

Actually it started more in the 70s in Japan, under a different name. It was adapted into the US later renamed Power Rangers, maybe 90s. I used to watch the original version when I was a child when I lived in Japan. 😊
