It's a shame and pretty much bad timing that Maureen McCormick was pregnant and was giving birth to one of her children, her replacement was dull and wasn't very good selection to replace Maureen, they couldn't hold off the production until she was able to film this movie makes no sense what so ever, everyone was good except for Marcia, poor choice on the Producer for choosing this actress to replace Maureen McCormick

It just wasn't received very well. The movies did well and they should have done a movie maybe a couple of times a year. It wasn't meant for the drama. Maureen was missing big time. The mickey character was not as good as the one in the Christmas movie. They made wally a total loser can't hold a job. They have bobby crash literally after the Christmas movie rather than build him up for a bit and maybe Carol Brady struggles with him driving only then he gets hurt. They just didn't bring a solid concept to appease an audience

Does anybody else think its weird that Jan and Marcia don't interact with other in this movie? I don't think they said one word to each other. And Marcia didn't even get excited or congratulate Jan on her new little girl. They went from being so close that they had a double wedding to practically acting like they don't know each other? Also, Wally and Philip barely spoke to each other and did not congratulate the new parents.

Wow, what a trip to see this again. I was 8 when this series came out and I had watched the original series on TBS & A Very Brady Christmas by the time this aired out so I knew all the characters (including the spouses of the grown up kids) and even at 8, I got that the vibe was very different. I mean you had Bobby almost dying right out the gate (which seriously alarmed 8 year old me at the time because that crash was somewhat intense), Perter being a horndog throughout the 5 episodes that aired, fake Marcia having a drinking problem & a constantly out of work husband (but that's what you get when you marry someone after going on only 7 dates) and Jan having fertility issues. Now I get what they were trying to do at the time by making it a nighttime drama & having the family deal with real issues that didn't always get resolved in 30 minutes, but it just never got a good rhythm going. Of the kids mariages, I enjoyed Greg & Nora's the best and how funny to see a young Jonathan Taylor Thomas (going by his real last name Weiss) as their son Kevin. I also liked seeing how well Florence Henderson & Robert Reed still worked together, but its sad in retrospect knowing that he was diagnosed with HIV just a year after the series ended in March of 1990 and was probably not feeling his best while filming it.

This show was pretty good, I'm curious as to why it got cancelled so quickly. After all, they did get the idea foe this show from the Very Brady Xmas having such super high ratings. I suppose it's because most Brady Bunch fans aren't used to such a dramatic show vs comedy

I remember reading about the series 'The Bradys'. It said while the pilot had fairly decent ratings, the subsequent episodes dropped to rock bottom, in ratings, causing the plug to be pulled after six episodes. People were only interested in the extended family as a one-time movie, but not a weekly series (as they were more interested in other shows of the era). I read that had the series continued, Mike Brady would've been subsequently killed off. As councilman, he would've gone in a helicopter to investigate some issue, and it would've crashed. The show would've then focused on the kids trying to console their grieving mother.

@@captainpharaoh agreed. There were no established older male characters to fill the void of Mike Brady or James Evans. If either series had an established uncle or something, it would have been easier to withstand losing Mike or James. But the plots were built too much around them to truly fill the gaps if they left.

I find the music cue that plays from 43:29 - 44:30 particularly moving, the sadness of a family that usually brought lighthearted joy in the original series. Who'd ever thought, back in the original series, that this particular family would have a moment as in this scene.

The Bradys (1990) The Brady 500 Episode 1 "Start Your Engines" and Episode 2 "Here We Grow Again" were later repackaged as a two-hour movie titled The Brady 500. | Comedy, Drama | Episode aired 9 February 1990 Bobby - now a professional race car driver - enters the Nashville 500 but is seriously injured in a crash. The result has him paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. Bobby appreciates the support of his family but worries whether his fiancé, Tracy Wagner, will accept him and his disability. Tracy accepts very well, and by episode's end, the two are married in a ceremony inside the Brady living room. Greg considers changing specialties so he can help Bobby, but he later decides to stick with obstetrics. Subplots involve Marcia's husband, Wally losing his umpteenth job and in the aftermath, the Logans having to move in with Mike and Carol; Peter breaking off his engagement with Valerie (his girlfriend from "A Very Brady Christmas"); and Cindy catching the eye of her much older, Jewish boss, a widower with two children.
