Wow, what a trip to see this again. I was 8 when this series came out and I had watched the original series on TBS & A Very Brady Christmas by the time this aired out so I knew all the characters (including the spouses of the grown up kids) and even at 8, I got that the vibe was very different. I mean you had Bobby almost dying right out the gate (which seriously alarmed 8 year old me at the time because that crash was somewhat intense), Perter being a horndog throughout the 5 episodes that aired, fake Marcia having a drinking problem & a constantly out of work husband (but that's what you get when you marry someone after going on only 7 dates) and Jan having fertility issues. Now I get what they were trying to do at the time by making it a nighttime drama & having the family deal with real issues that didn't always get resolved in 30 minutes, but it just never got a good rhythm going. Of the kids mariages, I enjoyed Greg & Nora's the best and how funny to see a young Jonathan Taylor Thomas (going by his real last name Weiss) as their son Kevin. I also liked seeing how well Florence Henderson & Robert Reed still worked together, but its sad in retrospect knowing that he was diagnosed with HIV just a year after the series ended in March of 1990 and was probably not feeling his best while filming it.

I remember reading about the series 'The Bradys'. It said while the pilot had fairly decent ratings, the subsequent episodes dropped to rock bottom, in ratings, causing the plug to be pulled after six episodes. People were only interested in the extended family as a one-time movie, but not a weekly series (as they were more interested in other shows of the era). I read that had the series continued, Mike Brady would've been subsequently killed off. As councilman, he would've gone in a helicopter to investigate some issue, and it would've crashed. The show would've then focused on the kids trying to console their grieving mother.

Robert Reed loved his pancakes buttery! Lots and lots of butter! He also loved pancake syrup! He loved his pancakes sticky! Really buttery and really sticky!

The Bradys (1990) The Brady 500 Episode 1 "Start Your Engines" and Episode 2 "Here We Grow Again" were later repackaged as a two-hour movie titled The Brady 500. | Comedy, Drama | Episode aired 9 February 1990 Bobby - now a professional race car driver - enters the Nashville 500 but is seriously injured in a crash. The result has him paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. Bobby appreciates the support of his family but worries whether his fiancé, Tracy Wagner, will accept him and his disability. Tracy accepts very well, and by episode's end, the two are married in a ceremony inside the Brady living room. Greg considers changing specialties so he can help Bobby, but he later decides to stick with obstetrics. Subplots involve Marcia's husband, Wally losing his umpteenth job and in the aftermath, the Logans having to move in with Mike and Carol; Peter breaking off his engagement with Valerie (his girlfriend from "A Very Brady Christmas"); and Cindy catching the eye of her much older, Jewish boss, a widower with two children. Imagine being pretty much the only person that's not the original actor. Felt weird without Maureen. They even got the guy who played Wally back.

I would have probably enjoyed this more if I hadn't spent 30 years in EMS...the entire thing is a film on what not to do...lol

this looks good now because it's from 1989 but when this was new nobody liked this. The classic Brady Bunch show will always be the best.

Jan was always my favorite. I thought she was so much prettier than Marsha. 🥰
