i'd like to see have the neck come off and have the head remain. richard made a similar argument in another episode and got the judge to change their mind. it was about an arm coming off and having the hand remain. the contestant said hand and richard said arm.

Ape didn't match Cheetah because General-to-specific doesn't match but Bikini matches bathing suit because general-to-specific matches. The rules are very fluid on Match Game.

I thought it was if the contestant said something specific and the panel said something general, it's okay. But not okay if it's the other way around. Also, is Cheetah an ape? I thought he was a monkey. . But a bikini is a bathing suit.

Notice they never have two male contestants, it's always two woman or a man and a woman.

There may have been a Feminist agenda at work. There sure as hell is nowadays in TV and movies. They're really pushing the multicultural/interracial agenda down our throats, too. You literally can't go a single day without seeing at least one TV commercial that shows an interracial couple. On Family Feud, there's at least one black or brown family about 95% of the time, and sometimes two non-White families. I can only remember seeing one show in the last few years that had two White families.

BRYAN351 I think the Family Feud thing has a lot to do with the fact that they're filming in Atlanta now, which is largely black, and with Steve Harvey hosting, I suspect they get primarily black applicants. As for why most of the MG players were female, I assumed it was the same reason they were almost always young and attractive. They were looking for eye candy to play off Gene and Richard's perviness.

@David That's an interesting idea, but I would think it would be the other way around for the morning and afternoon shows. I mean back then who was home more to watch those game shows...men or women? I know i'd rather see two guys. I wondering if more women came to play than men so they tried tospread them out more.

IMO, male contestants are more cool and collected (i.e. not particularly fun to watch), and nothing's more cringy than when they got another alpha butting heads with Gene or Richard. Female contestants were more likely to be nervous or giddy, and as said before, give something for Richard or Gene to play off of, which is more entertaining to watch. Of course, even female contestants are a mixed bag. I really don't understand what their screening process entailed. Nowadays, you pretty much have the same 1 note, coached, over-enthusiastic contestants, that it's kind of refreshing to see the variety of personalities in this show. But with that mixed bag, you get mixed results.

Just my opinion but I think Gene is too square to get high. Julie London from Emergency was on several times and she worked a reference to grass or acid into multiple questions. She also had that stoner stare IMHO but Gene no I don't think so.

The book "The Matchless Gene Rayburn" said of the wheel, when it came to the super match, the same thing would always happen. First, when the contestant picked the three stars, it was almost always Brett, Charles and Richard. Then when it came to the super match, it was always Richard. The producers timed this and noticed there were several minutes that the other three stars would sit there and do nothing. The reason given for the star wheel was to lessen the times the other stars would do nothing and had nothing to do with Dawson. Dawson however didn't see it that way and when they showed it to him, he exploded. He saw it as a slight to him. What can you say though? Contestants picked Dawson because they knew they would win with him. He got the game and that's not his fault.

Not to mention the wheel technically EXTENDS the time. First Rayburn has to explain the wheel and how landing on the gold stars can double the earnings if the contestant wins the match, add to that 10-20 seconds of the wheel spinning depending on how hard it was spun so roughly an extra minute is now added to the show's time. And yes it was not Dawson's fault he 'got' the game. What were they expecting him to do? Purposely write dumb answers so no one would pick him anymore?? That's not fair to the contestant! As much as Dawson hated the wheel, I think it was partly out of his love for seeing the contestants win. To the panel, the big money round was Dawson getting the spotlight. To Dawson, it was a chance for him to help regular everyday people earn some cash!

^ Yes, but Brett, Charles, and Betty were also good at matching the contestants, and Richard got all the spotlight. I'm glad they introduced the Star Wheel, it made it less annoyingly predictable and let the others shine.
