Today's audience match question: "Hash ________ " (My thoughts: Browns, -ish, Mark) The celebs: Richard (Browns), Sarah (no answer given), Charles (-ish) The choice: Browns The answers: Marks, House, Brown Potatoes Note: Okay, so hashish wasn't up there, but it's still funny because it demonstrates how much I think like Brett and CNR! (It's not clear if that was Charles's own answer or the one Brett wrote and suggested to him.) This will be our champ's fifth H/H match (she bombed out on the audience match a couple of episodes back). She's chosen Richard all four times so far, and they finally scored their first match last time. It seems all but certain she'll pick him again... Natch. - This is now Richard's 12th consecutive time playing the head-to-head, and he's been chosen 35 of the past 37 times. (Charles answered the remaining two questions.) Richard has matched 34 of his 89 most recent attempts (38.2%) and 17 of his last 46 attempts (37.0%). For the sake of comparison, Charles has matched 33 of his 65 attempts (50.8%), Fannie has matched 13 of her 26 attempts (50%), and Brett has matched 28 of her 68 attempts (41.2%). Today's H/H question: "_______ Teller" (My first thought is "Bank," perhaps because of the sound similarity with "blank." My second choice would be "Fortune.") Richard quickly files his answer, glancing at the sixth chair as he often does. Once again, our champ confidently offers the predicted answer, receiving an enthusiastic round of applause. I'm predicting another match for her today! Yes, indeed! Richard scores his 233rd H/H match today. ~~~The Week that Was: An unfortunate audience match fail on "Wednesday" left us with only four H/H questions for the week, and there were only two matches: Richard 2/4 Yup, our second all-Richard H/H week in a row. Quickly recapping this week's panelists: *Richard* matched two out of four attempts bringing his accuracy score up a tad, but still shy of Brett's. Maybe he'll finally pass her again next week? Speaking of *Brett* , she sat idle for the eighth consecutive week. *Charles* sat idle for his second week, holding steady at 50.8%, still the highest H/H accuracy score of all celebs with "mature" stats. (Orson Bean, Gary Burghoff, Jo Anne Worley, and Joyce Bulifant all currently have higher accuracy scores, but those scores are based on very limited data.) *Fannie* remains locked in her tie with Betty at 50%. One of them will get called on again sooner or later, right? *Dick* Martin has finished 5 of his 22 weeks now without having a shot at the H/H. I have a strong feeling he'll get to play eventually, since he continues on the show after Richard's departure, even sitting in Richard's former seat five times, with the Star Wheel doing the choosing. Finally, *Sarah* Kennedy finished her fifth of six weeks, also without playing a single H/H. I'm much less optimistic that she'll ever have a chance, but we'll see in episodes 1036-1040 when she makes her final week of appearances. ~~~Looking ahead, it's another week of all familiar faces, with our stalwart regulars being joined by: -----Semi-regular Betty White will return after two weeks off for what will be her 46th week (of 75). She's still locked in that long-standing tie with Fannie Flagg - both panelists have a 50% accuracy in the head-to-head match. -----Elaine Joyce will be back for her 16th week (of 26 total). Elaine last visited in episodes 811-815. She has been chosen exactly once for the H/H match, and has matched exactly once. -----Finally, Bill Daily will round out the panel next week, making his seventh week of "Match Game" appearances (of 15 total).
