H/H match update: ... ~~~Today's action: Quickly recapping: As time ran out "yesterday," our champ had just won her second game and scored $500 with the audience match. Now Gene is about to call on her to choose a celebrity for her second H/H match. She chose Richard last time, but they didn't match. Will that in any way color her decision this time? No. This is now King Richard's 56th consecutive H/H attempt. (No other celeb has played a head-to-head question since Fannie in 1132.) Stats: Richard has matched 148 of his 344 most recent attempts (43.0%), 87 of his last 204 attempts (42.6%), 40 of his past 96 attempts (41.7%), 26 of his past 69 attempts (37.7%), and 9 of his past 27 attempts (33.3%). His overall success rate is *42.1%* and this is his 822nd attempt so far. For the sake of comparison: Betty has matched 19 of her 38 attempts (50.0%), Charles has matched 34 of his 70 attempts (48.6%), Brett has matched 30 of her 71 attempts (42.3%), and Richard has matched 346 of his 821 attempts (42.1%). Neither David nor Eva has yet been chosen to answer a head-to-head question. *Today's H/H question: "The March of________"* (I'll say "Dimes." The March of Dimes was everywhere back then as I recall. Every store had a display encouraging people to donate. The only other thing that sounds halfway good to me is the march of time.) Richard glances toward Betty as he writes, but quickly finishes his answer and doesn't hesitate when it comes to sliding it in the slot. Ding. The champion gives the predicted answer, but with a questioning tone, indicating she isn't 100% on board with it. Was there something else she was considering? The audience sounds like they're in full support. Yes, I guess it was a fairly easy one today. We all said "Dimes." Thank goodness, because we hadn't had a match yet this week. Richard scores his 347th H/H match today. ~~~~~ Our champion didn't need her second-round question to defeat her new challenger, and now she gets to play her third Super-Match. *Today's audience match question: "Where's________"* (My thoughts: The Beef*, The Fire, a policeman when you need one) - *Nope. That commercial came out in 1984. I also discarded Waldo. Basically, I have no clue... The celebs: Richard (Poppa), Brett (Charlie), Eva (ran out of time/no answer) (The producers are on a streak with these tough AM questions! Even Richard and the entire top tier couldn't come up with any suggestions for Eva...) The choice: Charlie The answers: The Bathroom, It At, Poppa Oh no, the dreaded audience match fail! We just had one in 1176 too. ("Where's Poppa?" is a 1970 American comedy film starring George Segal and Ruth Gordon. It didn't do too well at the box office, but was re-released in 1975 under the title "Going Ape" and garnered something of a cult following.) ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts). Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts). Charles - 48.6% (34 wins in 70 attempts). Fannie - 48.5% (16 wins in 33 attempts). (*)Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 42.3% (30 wins in 71 attempts). (42.2535%) Richard - 42.2% (347 wins in 822 attempts). (42.2141%) Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1183, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. *Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. (These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. Note: There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036.)

Decades before anyone had heard of Waldo (in reference to the audience match question of "Where's [blank])
19:31 LOL, Eva is actually correct, the judge is wrong~ shucking is not pealing the leaves off, shucking is removing the corn from the ear. She's right, it translates as she understood it to be.
@sdlively275 жыл бұрын
No I believe the Judge is correct from the dictionary a husk or pod, as the outer covering of corn, hickory nuts, chestnuts, etc. to remove or discard as or like shucks; peel off the husk or outer covering of corn.
