Hi MGP..Again thanks for these shows. What was the story and reason Richard left the show. Was it that he got fed up with the producers and judges on the show. Contract dispute. Wanted more money.. Tired of no time on hand as doing two shows .

WPPCProductions There’s really no straight forward answer why because there’s different accounts to why he left. Ira Skutch and Gene Rayburn claim they would have let Richard out of his contract but instead Richard quit. If they were willing to let him go why would he quit?? Additionally Richard had found success with Family Feud and I think by this point he just wanted that to be his main focus. Additionally the Star Wheel was added diminishing his participation on Match Game and given he had no control over certain aspects to the game unlike on Feud I think he had enough by this point.

Gene Rayburn has always been the best dressed man in Hollywood! Always! He knows how to wear a three-piece suit. Charles is also an excellent dresser when he dresses up. Certain men can wear a suit and certain men cannot. And Jean Rayburn is the best MC for anything that I have ever seen in the last 50 years! 2024

With that win Charles wrestle the title away from Richard for one week giving away 8,500 dollars in head to head and audience match matches 13 matches for the regulars. Bonnie Franklin won for the semi regulars with 3 matches. Richard gave away 6,500 dollars in head to head and audience match matches. Elaine gave away 5,000 dollars in head to head match. Bernie Kopell gave away 500 dollars in audience match match. Brett and Tom Dressen both gave away 250 dollars in audience match matches.
