These early PM episodes are quintessential Match Game with a freewheeling, playful style. Later (when they move to the 3 round format on PM) much of that repartee is edited out for time. I’ll bet the entire series run was stronger for the audience in the room ! What a find it would be if original tapes were unearthed before those trims . . .

This show is ALOT different from the day time one. 2 supermatches and then, later on, they play 3 rounds instead of 2. This show was on when the other one was on. How did Gene keep them both straight

So Dottie's the first contestant ever to win the 10k from the supermatch right? (11 k technically). And what a wapping amount that was back in 1975! According to the U.S. Inflation Calculator that was worth 61,510.04. Not a bad sum to win on a 20 minute game show episode!

So finally back to some richard eps - after the dismal mg 78 - they had ZERO reason to be jealous of him. He was THE STAR (like or not) and he played the best, that's why people chose him all the time. His track record compared to everyone else's speaks for itself. Charles tries but opts for the (not) funny now and and then (alhtough his comment sin general are always funny) and brett is an idiot half the time lol
@LynxSouth3 жыл бұрын
I'd like to see statistics, if anyone has kept them. The big thing with Richard's record with the audience match is, he was most often asked first. I've noticed that other panelists, any others, often give the best answer when they're asked first. So, accurate records would have to indicate whether someone was called on first, second, or third.

@@LynxSouth Here's the stats for the regular show (MG '73-'79) for every star who scored at least 3 H/H matches: Orson Bean - 100% (4 matches in 4 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 matches in 4 attempts). Debralee Scott - 66.7% (4 matches in 6 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 57.1% (8 matches in 14 attempts). Joyce Bulifant - 57.1% (4 matches in 7 attempts). Charles - 51.1% (48 matches in 94 attempts). Elaine Joyce - 50.0% (3 matches in 6 attempts). Betty - 47.2% (25 matches in 53 attempts). Fannie - 46.7% (21 matches in 45 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 matches in 18 attempts). Bill Daily - 44.4% (4 matches in 9 attempts). Marcia Wallace - 42.9% (3 matches in 7 attempts). Richard - 42.5% (373 matches in 878 attempts). Brett - 40.9% (45 matches in 110 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 matches in 15 attempts). Nipsey Russell - 25.0% (3 matches in 12 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1455, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. (Note: episode 849 was never produced.) These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036. These stats do, however, include results of episodes 1309 through 1317, found on channels other than this one. (For missing episode 1406, the results of the second H/H have been revealed and are included in these stats, but it's unknown which celeb played the first H/H, which was not a match.)
