Richard's birth name is Colin Emm, so it's interesting to see him encounter another Colin and not even get involved in the discussion about the pronunciation. He weighs in on the matter only by saying the guy's name at 6:43. There's no way it would be said "COLON" in the Scotland, by the way. It would be a bit closer to "Cullen," as Richard also says it, but the corporal was just repeating what Gene said and was too polite to correct him.
@antster19834 жыл бұрын
Corporal Colin Williams doesn't sound even remotely Scottish. I'd say he was actually originally from Lancashire (in north-west England) but states he's from Edinburgh as he was stationed with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.

fecman94 You are absolutely right. I don’t know why they kept her on the show unless it was a way to mess with the contestants. One less chance to win.
@todddepue6813 жыл бұрын
Yes she did it on purpose....according to Marcia Wallace, the producers assigned seat 6 to come up with unexpected answers to end the round on a punch. The idea being that a series of repetitive answers got stale and made for boring TV. So not only did those women have to be creative, they also needed a thick skin to deal with viewers hating on them for not matching.
@jessechristian86652 жыл бұрын
I think she thinks she's being cute and funny. Everybody expects her to just say something completely stupid and unrelated to the question. Might as well use a magic 8 ball, it would be cheaper and probably match more often.

Who or what do you guard, not whom. Why can’t he get it right?
@generay40544 жыл бұрын
Because we are probably supposed to say Whom, as you can tell during the Super Match when Gene asked Whom to you call, and we are the ones saying it wrong.
@LynxSouth3 жыл бұрын
In standard (now formal) English, it's 'whom'.
@CousinOresama3 жыл бұрын
In this case, since he's being asked the object of the question, whom is correct. Think of it like this. "He guards the queen." If you want to know who is guarding, you ask, "Who is guarding the queen?" But if you want to know who is being guarded, you are supposed to use the objective (as opposed to subjective) form of who, thus "Whom do you guard?" is correct. I would have never known this had I not taken up teaching English as a foreign language. Sorry. Too much information, I know.
