Taken in context, this showed aired only a few years after Hogan's Heroes aired and The Producers (with Springtime for Hitler) came out. There was even a contemporary Carol Burnett Show sketch featuring Tim Conway and a little Hitler.

Back then we made fun.of Hitler and Nazis. Charles and Gene fooling around was just that. Nobody was glorifying Nazis, in a game show environment they made them look like the murdering losers like they were.

I'm sixty now, one of the things I miss and loved about back then, was we didn't censor or hide from that what was controversial. When it came to subjects like nazis we took it seriously, but laughed at it. One of the best examples was the original movie The Producers. Monty Python was another example. I built many models growing up and they included the swastika because history was history. Accept it don't hide from it or gloss it over.

This episode shouldn't be banned. It should be shown for educational purposes as well as entertainment. It definitely shows how our society has evolved in terms of what's acceptable to be aired on television. If you were offended, don't watch...but we shouldn't pretend the past didn't occur. Interesting, hearing lovable Betty White make joke about poor people and JJ (painfully at times for me) be the butt of Black and ghetto jokes.

@@pencils812 hi Sam, if you think about it, if you tube banned everything that offended somebody there wouldn't be much of ANYTHING to watch. Case in point, there's a very popular musical play written by Mel Brooks who just happened to be Jewish, it's called the producers, in it there's a segment that pokes fun at Hitler called springtime for Hitler, I'd bet you could still find that if you searched for it. I can only speak for myself when I say those of us that watch match game or any other un pc show from yesteryear have a much thicker skin than the people that need to run to their safe space to escape from hearing something they disagree with. Lastly if I were that sensitive I could NEVER watch mg with the dumb DONALD questions they use so frequently, but I will say they shoulda mixed it up a bit by writing dumb David or dumb Danny questions, sorry for the long reply but it's hard for me to ✋ once I get started
