Frank Worthington - one of the great mavericks of 70's English football

This series ended with the 79-80 season. There was another series made later, called Match of the 80s, presented by Danny Baker. I didn't enjoy it as much for some reason, and don't have the tapes any more. That series went up to about 1986 I think, up until ITV won exclusive rights to League football for several years.

No - unless I somehow missed it. There is a 3-disc 'Match of The Day' DVD though, the first disc of which is dedicated to the 60s (if memory serves me right)

Just look at Bobby Moore's house. Just an ordinary house in an ordinary street, unlike the mansions of today's underachieving rubbish.

Well said, he was a genuine man and a great player.

So Lorimer blames Sprake for Leeds losing to Colchester, never mind the poor defence for the goals too- but it was howlers by Hunter and Charlton that cost Leeds the title in the infamous match v West Brom and then in 72 Hunter's own goal v Derby tipped the title Derby's way. But if in doubt blame Sprake.
@Lord_Hillcrest015 жыл бұрын
Yep and rightly so. Sprake was at fault for two of those goals . The game against west brom was a disaster not just the astle goal . Hunters own goal was nothing more than unfortunate , the ball came at him he had no say in whete it was going . Whats your point in all of this .

Paul - it's not worth posting this if you haven't got the last part. It's really annoying to get three quarters of the way through to find you can't watch the end. Even though I remember what happened . . .

Tony Bates: It was removed recently by KZbin. Copyright infringement claimed by UEFA. Very petty of them, I thought. A few other parts have been removed as well, for the same lamentable reason. May re-post the episodes I still have on my computer in full, instead of the 10 minute chunks you had to when I first uploaded them. In a few weeks time.

paulmagicflute Very petty. Okay, thanks anyway.

Why were Spurs wearing Arsenal away kit?
@peterwickendon2585 жыл бұрын
I get it as last time they won was in black n white. Lol so it didn't matter what kit spurs played in

All the Leeds guys blame Sprake more often than not because he snitched on Revie for his penchant for match fixing.
@mizofan8 жыл бұрын
Right, it was Hunter and Charlton who lost Leeds the league in the defeat v West Brom when Sprake played well, and it was Hunter's own goal after a save by Sprake v Derby that tipped the title Derby's way. Stokoe and Clough among others said Revie was into match fixing. Sprake was a fine goalie, the defence was no better than him v Colchester

@BigDuke6ixx Footballers weren't so different in other ways though. Moore and a few of his West Ham team mates went out on the piss the night before a match - and got tonked 4-0. Very unprofessional and something even many of today's players would think twice about.
