Nothing can tops hungary vs west germany in the 1954 final...was huge upset since that Hungary team basically an unbeatable team...imagine being unbeaten for more than 2 years just to be beaten at the final..and the final was also full of controversy...

Portugal beating England 1-0 in the first group game of the 1986 World Cup was a shock at the time as Portugal weren't considered anything like they are nowadays. Costa Rica beating Scotland 1-0 in 1990 as well.

You're wrong. Portugal had just got to the 1984 Euro semifinals to which England hadn't qualified, holding France to extra time, so beating England was no surprise.

No mention of Saudi Arabia beating Argentina (the team that would become World Cup Champions 2022) 2v1 in Qatar? Or Japan beating Germany 2 v 1 In Qatar? Or Morocco beating Belgium 2 v O also in Qatar? The biggest shock for the English about the Scotland v Netherlands game (1978) was that Scotland could be better than England. Even though in the 1974 world cup Scotland was the only team to compete at the tournament that was unbeaten at the tournament..
