As always, great reporting from the world of diecast, Paul. For me, the '59 Cadillac is as beaten to death as many Porsche models, the original Mustang, Corvettes, etc, although Matchbox did do an impressive job on the overall look of their release. I'm just not too keen on Matchbox doing older Cadillacs because they end up being too small a scale! A '59 is the length of an Escalade (more or less), so it comes out tiny in the package. The '58 Impala looks interesting. Matchbox and Hot Wheels seem to being doing "cross models" with the same model being available at times at each. Of course, this highlights the difference between the brands. Incidentally, Matchbox seems to use the same colors repeatedly rather than doing colors that are an exact match of the real car. I say that because companies like Auto World match the paint to the manufacturer, with the color sample appearing on the packaging along with the color name. Of course at a lower price point, Matchbox is less accurate. This lilac or pale metallic pink looks to be identical to the Moving Parts 1964 Buick Riviera recolor release of the past year. It also reminds me of a model going back to my youth....the original (#8 in the Superfast series) Lotus Europa recolor. I laugh when some people think it is a "girlie color". That is all brainwashing from advertising and marketing from decades ago. Heck, what is pink but pale red? I think it looks hot on it. Oddly enough, my favorite is the VW Cabriolet!!!! It's amazing that the original has not been done by anyone in 1:64 scale! That car was iconic in the 1980s, and I had a buddy who had one. Another misnomer about gender and cars / car colors as some guys will consider it a "chick car", but he was always out with it with different girls in the passenger seat! It looked fun to me!!!!

I'd agree that it's a Pajero. The only other vehicle that I can think of that's similar, is the 2 door Land Cruiser of the same era, but the LC body is much more angular. LOTS of opportunity for the Impala casting with stance and paint. I'd say wheels too, but its Matchbox, lol. I will def get at least one of those for a custom. My favs: Pajero Impala Cabrio

BMW 3 Series [E46] Compact which uses E30 rear end + suspension, Mitsubishi Pajero series 1, and all the colours are early test samples so wheels + paint will be different.

Maybe an Isuzu with a topper. The toppers in the same shape as some of the broncos but that body looks way too small. The Camaro looks terrible for many reasons in my opinion.
