It doesn't matter if you liked Richard or not because he was the best panelist in terms of getting the contestants money. He's missed terribly by all of us Match Game, OG Family Feud, and Hogan's Heroes fans.
@Observer-jw8wv5 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right. He was the best player by far and wanted the contestants to win. He was also more concerned than the others about keeping it tasteful. Very few doo-doo jokes from Richard. He was a tremendous talent and I miss him! Also, for all the natter about how "everyone hated him," it's clear when you watch the episodes that Betty and Fannie adored him, and Charles, Fannie, Joyce and yes GENE -- as well as many other panelists -- all liked him and found him very funny. I think his crankiness during the last few months on the show tends to seep into how people remember him on this show. But he was its true star.

H/H match update: ... Today's action: After winning $5600 last time, thanks to an incredible H/H match with Betty, our champion gets to try his luck at the Super Match for a second time. Today's audience match question: "________ Fox" The celebs: Richard (Desert), Betty (Redd - Betty acknowledged that Redd Foxx spells his name different from the spelling in the question), and Edward (Br'er) (Interesting how the contestant altered his choices - last time he chose the three female panelists. Also interesting because Edward had a decent response ready to go, not always the case for the third celebrity to be called on, and a huge contrast from his performance in the main game.) The choice: Red The answers: Twentieth Century, Sly as a, Redd Wow. Only one celeb suggestion appeared on the audience match board, but it was the one our champion selected! Since he chose Betty yesterday and matched, and selected her suggestion both days, I wouldn't be surprised if he chooses her again for the H/H match today, but there's a chance he'll mix it up the way he did for his audience match choices... He stays the course and picks Betty again! Today's H/H question: " ________ Truth" My first thought was Sojourner Truth, but then for the recent "______ Parks" I went with "Rosa" and matched no one (Bert Parks was the answer). I think this time I'll go for "To tell the truth." Beyond a common expression, it was a very popular game show (also by Goodson/Todman), and Betty White herself appeared on it many times (40 times according to some sources). Betty meditates for a moment before writing her answer. She doesn't look terribly confident, however. When the camera cuts to the contestant, he's got that same big smile he had yesterday, as if he's confident he's thought of the best answer. The contestant confidently answers "to tell the truth." It's almost impossible to read panelists' expressions in the H/H match, but Betty looks either shocked or disappointed. With little in the way of preamble, Betty reveals the winning answer! Two H/H wins in a row! Betty scores her 17th H/H match today! Given that episode 645 is missing, here's an early End-of-week H/H match recap: There were 4 H/H matches this abbreviated week (with episode 645 not available), and 3 wins: Brett 1/1, Richard 0/1, Betty 2/2 Another great week with 3 different celebs playing the head-to-head. Betty overtook Charles in the H/H accuracy rankings only two weeks after Charles had moved ahead of her. Gary ends the week (filling in for Charles ) with his incredible 83.3% accuracy rating intact. Edward completed his second (of six) weeks without having been chosen for the H/H match. Marcia Rodd also ends her brief MG career without having a chance to help a contestant win big in the H/H. Looking ahead: --Charles returns (!), and so all three regulars are present and accounted for once again. (No knock on Gary, but CNR is irreplaceable.) --Gary hangs around for a second consecutive week, shifting to the #1 seat, with another shot at defending and possibly improving upon his 83.3% accuracy rating! --Fannie is back in that semi-regular seat, and her H/H track record is a tad better than even Betty's! --Susan Howard appears for her first of only two weeks. (Her second week will be episodes 681-685) Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Betty - 50% (17 wins in 34 attempts). Charles - 47.7% (21 wins in 44 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 40.3% (147 wins in 365 attempts). Brett - 38.5% (20 wins in 52 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 644, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
