Thanks for the video! "Richard's Funny Letter" 19:24, can be traced in some form as far back as the 1920's. From Wikipedia - A version was published in the Readers Digest in 1940, and in The Manchester Guardian in 1957. Gerard Hoffnung famously recited it in 1958 as part of a speech. In 1969, Irish singer/songwriter Pat Cooksey wrote and performed it as a song titled "Paddy and the Barrel." Since then the song has been recorded by many various artists under various titles, such as "The Sick Note." My favourite is "The Bricklayer's Song" by Scottish duo The Corries. It's funny. Many versions can be found on KZbin.

Match Game PM only had two rounds during the first season only.September 1976 is when the three round feature became a permanent part of the show.

No wonder why GSN didn’t aired this episode. They wanted to show contestants win money on the Super Match, not someone that would lose on their daytime version. Bonus points for the producers for letting Richard kill the time with an interesting letter

Maybe they didn't want to air this episode because they didn't want to embarrass the contestant again. Did anybody ever lose the Super Match like this on any other episode?

That was possibly later on the run (I've never really watched many of the earlier episodes tbh), I believe this was the first year of this version of MG.

Usually, the contestant might match one of the two Super Matches to go for something. I have seen a lot of the Match Game PM shows, and I don't remember seeing it happen. This was the first.
