H/H match update: ... ~~~Today's action: Our champion needs to match all five remaining celebs just to tie. And she does! Bring on the tie-breaker! And now our champ needs to match all six celebs to achieve another tie! But it wasn't to be... She departs after winning three games and $6,300. *Today's audience match question: "Portland________"* (My thoughts: Oregon, Maine, England) The celebs: Richard (Oregon), Marcia (Maine), Lee (Mason) *I notice that Gene pronounces my home state the way many from the East Coast do (used to do, less so now), and it drives real Oregonians batty. The contestant says it properly, and Gene seems to follow her lead when he repeats her answer, but then slips back into the incorrect and annoying pronunciation again later. The choice: Oregon (Considering the audience would almost certainly consist of mainly west coast people, I think that's a pretty safe bet.) The answers: Cement, Maine, Oregon An easy audience match question to start our new champion's Super-Match experience. I'm betting she'll choose Richard for the head-to-head as well. Yup. This is now King Richard's sixth consecutive time answering the H/H question. Stats: Richard has matched 116 of his 268 most recent attempts (43.3%), 55 of his last 128 attempts (43.3%), 36 of his last 84 attempts (42.9%), and 8 of his past 20 attempts (40.0%). His overall success rate is *42.1%* and this is his 746th attempt so far. For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 34 of his 70 attempts (48.6%), Brett has matched 30 of her 71 attempts (42.3%), and Richard has matched 314 of his 745 attempts (42.1%). Marcia and Lee have each answered one question so far without yet matching, and David Landsberg has not yet answered a H/H question. *Today's H/H question: "Juliet________"* (Ugh! Enough with the name questions! I'll say Juliet Prowse. - Note: Juliet is a two-week MG panelist: She first appeared in episodes 736-740 back in 1976, and her second and final week just happens to be next week - 1111-1115!)) Richard quickly writes his answer and glances at Marcia as he files his card. Our newly minted champion gives the same answer I did. I think that's a good sign, as I tend to match Richard more often than not anymore. The audience gives a warm but not overwhelming round of applause. He misspelled her name, but spelling doesn't count! "Prouse" [sic] Richard scores his 315th H/H match today. ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts). Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts). Charles - 48.6% (34 wins in 70 attempts). Fannie - 48.4% (15 wins in 31 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 42.3% (30 wins in 71 attempts). Richard - 42.2% (315 wins in 746 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1108, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. *Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. (These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. Note: There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036.)

I thought for sure I'd have a clean sweep on the x-ray question with "signed". Not one match!

Well, you matched me! My first thought was "autographed" and my second thought was "kissed," so I really struck out with the panel on that one!
