I think it's an abstract pattern by a contemporary designer whose ties he also wears on occasion. I looked in the end credit crawl for "Gene Rayburn's wardrobe provided by ..." but didn't see it. It's not a pattern like herringbone or houndstooth or windowpane. "1970s squares" is as good an answer as any. Lol. (And I work with costume and fashion designers, so I'm not just flapping my yap.)
@todddepue6813 жыл бұрын
@@annika_panicka its a "foulard" print, of which there are many variations but basically its a small scale pattern with a repeating block motif. Originally foulard referred to a certain weave of silk, the type generally used in making men's ties. In modern usage, the word itself translates (in French) to mean a small scarf or neckerchief. So if you google it, be sure to include the word print or pattern. I'm a fashion historian and deal in vintage clothing. 😀😀

I am SO glad that someone else saw the waste of airtime Brett Somers was! I TRY to find the good in her appearances, but she is SO OBNOXIOUS and doesn’t match contestants at the critical stages of competitions. She’s like the class clown in school who CAN’T do the work! Brett is unfunny and she is not getting the money. I’d rather she stuck to good answers and not tried to be funny rather than motor mouthing AND holding up the game. And no, it’s not the alcohol on Monday and Tuesday that is the excuse.
@kathycobb44514 жыл бұрын
I quite disagree. Brett is hilarious, and Betty White can take care of herself. You have to have a thick skin to be in show business.
@dmnemaine3 жыл бұрын
@@rockaway2k To be fair, Match Game couldn't be "held up". It was like a soap opera. They just continued on from wherever they left off on the previous episode. It wasn't like Family Feud or Price Is Right where they had to fit the gameplay into a specific time period. Password was another example of a game that ran like a soap opera. Match Game was specifically set up to allow for the antics of Brett and the other celebrities.
@rockaway2k3 жыл бұрын
@@dmnemaine That doesn’t alter the fact that the antics cost people money a number of times. If Brett or anyone gave good answers and they helped people win the game and money, I gave her and others credit. But, at times the attempts at humor could be taken for “I don’t have the proper or decent answer for a critical moment.” Again, I get the show, like Hollywood Squares, was played for humor, too. But, the answers and the humor stabs be it Brett, Fannie Flagg, Charles, or Joyce Bulifant were BAD at times. I mean, we don’t have to be a contestant to see that. And even Gene would scoff at the efforts. But, the show itself is GREAT and I love it!
