Hi! Thank you for this. My son has been suspected to be autism at 1 years old and Now he's 3 years old and we've been trying to help him by finding resources online. Our country doesnt have any resources for autistic kids, and going out of the country to get help is expensive. So i've been trying my best to help my son before i put goes to school. He's nonverbal and has really bad focus/attention skills. He's started to say a few things but its not clear, its more of a mumble. He is slowly started to respond when we call him or talk to him but sometimes. I've been watching this and I'm so thankful i found this. I'm beginning to understand my son and how to help him. I am a new autism mom , so i am more relaxed than ever because of this

Mam my child is 5 yrs old and she is autistic. We have been teaching her Object to object matching for the last 3 months. Initially she was not showing interest. But after 1-1.5 months of practice she was doing with 50-60% accuracy. But then after that she started loosing interest and she is not cooperating at all. Now her accuracy level has become 25%. I con not understand where is the fault? We have changing objects at a gap of every 15 days. Can you please guide me on this. Thank you.

I have a student who has mild autism and he is vocal. My question is if he keeps saying NO for everything what can be done?
@autismmalaysia
@autismmalaysia Жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for sharing. We would encourage exploring your student's motivation and using it as reinforcement for the different tasks that he is required to do. This would hopefully the reduce the frequency of him saying no as he would be motivated by the reinforcement. It may also be beneficial to teach him the social skill of Pecking Order and that sometimes it is not his choice (eg: he cannot say no to school work as it is requirement, but he can definitely ask for help if needed). We hope that this is helpful. Should you have further enquries or would like to discuss more in depth in regards to your child, do send your enquiries to enquiries@autismamalaysia.com and our team would be able to be in touch with you. Thank you.

Hello n n, you are most welcome. We are glad that you have found our videos helpful! We encourage to include more high-intensity physical activities (exercises that increase heart rates) in his daily routines as it may help with his overall self-regulation throughout the day. We would also advise to do a low-intensity activity (such as simple puzzles, attention tasks, threading beads, matching, massages, etc) immediately after a high-intensity one before resuming work at the table to help with his attention. Visuals to communicate when he can engage in the self-stimulatory behavior and teaching replacement behaviors may also be helpful. We hope that this would be helpful to you. Should you wish to discuss further on more specific strategies, kindly send in your enquiries to enquiries@autismmalaysia.com and our team would love to get in touch with you for a screening appointment to get to know your child better. Thank you.

Hi S R, thank you for reaching out to us. When working with new kiddos, we would typically spend a good amount of time in the first few sessions to build rapport with the child. This can be done through many ways and you can feel free to check out our Making Learning Fun series for some ideas! kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5TEaISnpZ6cf80 You may have to start by maintaining at a distance that she is comfortable with and engaging in some of her favourite activities on your own. Allow her some time to get comfortable with your presence and once she reaches out or comes closer to you, gradually build the engagement while still following her lead. We hope that this is helpful for you. Have a great day!

What about if a child doesn't understand what match means?
@autismmalaysia
@autismmalaysia Жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for asking. We would typically break the skill down by fully prompting the child to match the first few trials (eg: holding his or her hand to match the item), starting with matching just 1 picture then gradually build up the fields and reduce the promptings.
