I like this format, Tom. I've watched a good amount of your videos and I like the live-play slowed-down editing. Great work on this instructional demo.

Absolute hidden gem! This is by by far one of best tennis instruction videos on youtube - i believe I have watched over a thousand of them and I honest think this the best in terms of footwork. Others are more on the actual form itself which are nice but often fall short of being a little too mechanical. Tom, you've nailed it on the fundamental concept. Seeing how you apply it on the second half of the video also is very helpful for me to visualize. Thanks!

I have worked hard to modernize my strokes and it has been successful, but it is also true that my footwork has lagged behind. When I do have problems it usually comes down to not getting into a good enough position, and that requires being more fluid in the way you are talking about here.

wow, great video! I have seen several videos on open and closed stances before, but still that was a mystery for me. Now I am sure I will use both stances to my benefit. Thanks a lot!

Excellent suggestion, Tom. Watching also your upper body and core, your foot work suggestion results in quickly squaring up these two parts of the body relative to the net and rest of the court. Obviously this aids the next required movement, whichever direction that requires. But I wonder if this also improves depth vision as now both eyes can focus on the court without the restriction of remaining sideways (with the head oriented at least partially sideways).

Great tips. Also the music. Would u mind sharing what music are you playing in the middle of the video? Thanks

Love the video mate. Could you do one on approach shots? Preferably live balls, off of forehand and backhand. I often get confused with this shot and end up jumping off of the wrong one, and/or losing balance. Cheers!

Love your fluid and effortless looking 2HBH, but I can't work out how you're getting topspin without dipping the racquet head. Is it just timing a low to high movement properly?
