If you consider how Bute and Abraham were having success, with some good knockouts, it was impressive when Froch beat them. Abraham only lost via DQ before Froch. Then to beat Groves the way he did in the rematch, Froch has had a nice career. Then add on Kessler, Johnson, Dirrel, Pascal, Taylor, Froch has had fairly underrated career.

Everyone was talking how Bute was a massive danger for Carl. Reminds me of Calzaghe vs Lacy.
@danyoutube74913 жыл бұрын
I honestly thought beforehand that Bute was going to struggle against Froch. We knew his chin was a bit suspect, and that he had decent but not exceptional power. That would not have been enough to make me so sure that Froch had a strong chance of stopping him, but the key for me is the way Bute defended- he relied on a lot of upper body movement and his above average height, strength and ranginess to make it hard for opponents to get a lot of shots on him, but his guard was very open, and his lead hand in particular very low. He had enough power to make most opponents think twice about rushing in. But against Froch he had an opponent who was probably just about as tall and rangy as himself, and who had a bit more power and a lot more chin so that the equation was not in Bute's favour. In short, he couldn't keep Froch at bay, and that open guard meant all he could hope to do if Froch got close was duck and dive a bit. While that usually was enough against weaker and shorter opponents, Froch was too big, tough and determined to be evaded like that and so kept landing shots. I have to say I admire Bute's spirit; he wanted to compete in a firefight with Froch some of the time even when he was hurt, and even to take the fight to Froch, but it worked against him. After getting hurt the first time, he later landed a good one-two on Froch but then lunged in to be aggressive, and immediately took a strong left on the end of his chin, and he was back in trouble again. It would have been very hard for Bute to find a way back into the fight, I think his only chance would have been to be very smart with quick one-two counters and then circle away, but that would be a tall order at the best of times, for the whole fight, and he was used to being the champ and dominating fights, so he tried to assert himself even when it had been shown he couldn't against Froch.

Froch had 12 world championship fights so 12 times his handwraps and gloves were checked by experienced, world class trainers from the opponent's teams. Not once were any such claims coming from actual trainers or fighters but now you base this on a comment he made in the corner on live television. Yeah, very realistic, someone's been cheating for years and he just reveals it in his corner live...

Froch showed better count punching in this fight than he did for most of his career. He landed some of those short left hooks on the inside after making Bute miss that landed perfectly and really rattled Bute. He also landed some of those short left hand at the end of his combinations, too. He got Bute to reach with his left hand at one point and caught him clean with the right cross as well. He roughed up bad with roundhouse punches at close range, too. Bute just couldn't handle the power at all, and Froch is relentless when he has his man hurt.

At the time of the fight, some still considered Bute the real king of 168 even though he didn’t fight in the super 6 tournament. Many considered Froch’s career at a decline because he was coming off of his one sided fight with Ward. Froch took on this fight in Bute’s back yard after coming off a loss. Stylistically Froch always had problems with boxer punchers. He was losing the fight against Taylor up until the K.O, lost to Kessler & ward completely dismantled any offense Froch had. Despite all of this, Froch went into the dragons den & completely ripped Bute’s heart out in-front his own hometown

@danyoutube7491 Жыл бұрын
The referee was good; Froch was understandably frustrated with Bute grabbing hold of him but he was rabbit punching a bit (largely Bute's fault because of the holding and turning his head away). The ref was stepping in quick each time it happened so Froch just needed to have a bit of patience and let the referee split them, which is what Carl did after a while in fairness to him. The ref wanted to keep it clean. As for the stoppage he wanted to give Bute every chance to continue and how many times do people slate a referee in Britain for stopping the fight, in the fans' eyes, too early? The referee can't win :)

The American ref Albert Earl Brown was a joke. Boxing rec shows he has done over 200 fights but I do not remember him doing any big fight like this. His work here was horrible. It took Bute's own people to stop the fight. Not only was he doing some standing 8 count he had no clue that Frosh was not in a neutral corner and celebrating as if he won. Brown's extensive lecture just seconds into the fight was a classic example of egotistical authoritarianism. There was no need for it. French refs act like that.
