The shot clock should NEVER start while the person who just missed a shot is standing at the table. Put switches in the chairs so they have to sit their ass down before the opponents shot clock will start.

That is actually a great idea, put a pressure sensor on the chair, start the shot xlock when the player that missed sits down and keep the clock going as long as the player that missed is sat down. Matchroom Pool, maybe yo'all can mull over this idea and maybe implement it for future tournaments...

Man, that was surprising. My first comment to my wife, at the beginning was Oi's definitely got his work cut out for him in this match. I'm not sure I've ever seen Joshua play this badly, he couldn't hit ANYTHING after those few decent racks he put together up front. And I'm not sure I've ever seen Oi play this well. He looked like either he wasn't feeling well or something was bothering him, and at every missed shot it seemed to get worse. I'm not sure I've ever seen him do that either, almost looked like he kind of gave up. Oi was really solid toward the end, especially, meaning his last several racks. The breaks were brutal, balls down well, but it didn't seem like either of them could get a shot afterward, and the two definitely was the 'MVP' blocker. I guess, it's hard to modify your break when you're consistently potting balls on it. I didn't notice the slow break, but I think every time after that Oi met the three point rule, even though it wasn't in effect. Seemed like the ref was being a bit tough on them but I didn't go back and look, so ... congrats Oi. Maybe the ref agrees with you two and doesn't like the cut break either. :-/ :-) Great commenting, too. Again, bring Jason back anytime, MHO, it's fun to hear him voice how he would play it, good for people trying to learn better cue ball and patterning. The dynamic between the three was fun, too. The Brit always gets at least a couple of good lines in, I like his dry sense of humor. I thought the comment about SVB preferring meeting Oi than Filler was a bit harsh, but I noticed you guys back pedaled on it a bit to make sure people didn't misunderstand, ie that Oi is definitely very capable. Nice. I heard the yell from Oi watching one of the other matches and said, "WTH?". Understandable given the situation, but maybe a bit over the top, volume wise. The exuberance of youth, hard to fault it.

The ref should not be allowed to determine what is too soft of a break without a set rule (3 balls to a rail). Everyone’s stroke is different and it can look like one guy is hitting softer than another when it’s actually close to the same.

@2869may 2 жыл бұрын
I completely agree..! But it's "OK" to fluke a win..... LOL
@laurentiu2572
@laurentiu2572 2 жыл бұрын
That rule is specifically intended for soft breaks that are rehearsed...players break soft in 9ball to sink the side ball in the top left or right pockets, draw the qball near the bottom rail and get the one ball close to the bottom left pocket and run from there. It's a rehearsed break and its not really fair play. Thats what that rule is trying to weed out...that some players break harder or softer than others in terms of strenght is allright, if they bring rehearsed soft breaks to the event table they should not be alowed to get away with it more than once. (do it once, get told to cut it out and stop that sh..) The 3 point rule is in effect i believe in most tournaments these days...any ball potted in the break is a point, same as any ball that is sent behind the break line. In order for the break to be valid or legal, the player that breaks must score 3 points minimum...either pott balls plus send balls behind the break line, either 3 balls potted (pretty rare but possible) or a mix of both. If 3 points are not made on the break shot, the ref will declare it illegal break and the player that made the break shot loses his/her turn.
@laurentiu2572
@laurentiu2572 2 жыл бұрын
Some refs however do make it sort of personal...example Marcel Eckhardt telling off SVB in his first match on the tv table in the world 9 ball championship 2021 (i forget against who this instant) a referee should not display any pride in telling a player to cut it out... refereed matches are deffinately NOT about the referee that officiates the gameb but ABOUT THE PLAYERS battleing it out...
@2869may
@2869may 2 жыл бұрын
@@laurentiu2572 So when players "practice" and perfect the game, the rules should change...? Why not just put the 1 ball at the back.... there's no need to hit the 1 on the break. Let people break as hard or soft as they want.... it's part of the strategy of the game. You probably like breaking a players rhythm and momentum with the alternate break as well.... You wanna a chance to shoot...? Better practice your lag....!

@MrJdsenior 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. They put one one pocket, straight, and carom on this (maybe?), Accustats and POV pool, to name just a few. There are also some amazing snooker games available. Start with Ronnie O Sullivan's quickest out, if you want to see the ultimate run first. For a perfect break they have to run a BUNCH of balls (they start with an added full back row in the rack, and have to pot each one and a color, usually the single red in between each one, and then the remaining colors, in order. Three cushion is a nutzoid game, MHO, I just watch it and am almost continuously astounded. You sometimes see SEVEN rail kicks, hitting the other TWO balls on the table somewhere in that lunacy. There is a Russian game called pyramid, where the balls don't even look like they fit in the pockets on video (not exaggerating, something like 5 mm clearance and IIRC the rails are cut almost parallel into the pockets). You see crazy things like balls being hit very hard into pockets and instantly stopping in the jaws, it is really weird. I guess it is jawing, but you can't see that on video because it is so fast with so very little movement. There's an excellent video of Corey Duel giving it a go against an excellent amateur and Corey acquits himself well, even though he looses. I think there are also pin games and some balk line. The pins add an interesting aspect. Just search the rules of the games you don't know before you watch them, or you won't have a clue what is going on. One of the Justins told me his second favorite game was Bonus Ball. There were two seasons of it, I think, involving both top pros and amateurs and the rules are extensive. It incorporates one pocket (except it is three for each team), rotation, eight ball, snooker, etc., and crazy extended rules like a GAME clock, the bonus ball, various point values for different balls, etc. They play it in a team format, and then play single player format (two players, opposing, like normal). It is a lot of fun to watch...I really wish it had gone on longer. A lot of the players you will easily recognize, Justin Hall, Johnny Archer, Strickland, Melling (I think), Appleton, and more. The game was designed with the help of the players.

I disagree 100% with the guy on commentary about winner breaks. Every pool tournament in the world should be alternate breaks, that makes it fair to everyone, because each player gets his turn at the table. I hate watching 1 sided matches where 1 guy is running table after table and the other guy just sits in his chair helpless. No other sport does that, you can lose a match and never even get to play.
@Zigarius1123
@Zigarius1123 2 жыл бұрын
I think it actually makes it better because when that guy who has sat for 3, 4, 5+ racks straight gets his shot and turns the tides. I think that's where champions are forged. To me pool is about who wants it more. Look at SVB right now, he put in the time over the last month and Shaw even said he's played 12 hours a day for the last 7 days.

Are you referring to the "golden break" tbats not a fluke man. Rare, but it happens and it is perfectly ok imo. If you consider that fluke and it shouldbt count i guess one could say the same about combo shots to pot the 9 ball...example: break, then the 9ball is on a pocket, the player sends the 1 ball to oot the 9 and he won. Do you see anything wrong with that? If no, then golden breaks are perfectly ok. Plus, not all 9ball players (pro or not) can pull that off...
