This is a very precise rear sight. I've used it out to 500 m with 55 gr rounds and elevation settings are calibrated surprisingly close.

I have two of these, one on an M16A4 clone and one on an M4A1 clone rifle. They are great sights. Very dependable and repeatable settings. They are the standard sight used by the US Army. The US Navy and Marines use the KAC sight. My only complaint is that the single aperture is very small. I opened mine up to the same size as the large aperture on the M16A2 sight. Works much better for me.

You might also want to purchase a detachable carry handle sight since it can serve as a primary sight that is ideal for basic marksmanship development. In other words the detachable carry handle sight can be better adjusted for point of aim and bullet strike to intersect, as well as promote sight alignment skill better than a scope can promote such skill.My perspective on this is as a CMP-USAMU Military Rifle Instructor assisting the USAMU deliver SDM Training and as a US Distinguished Rifleman.

Appreciate the comment! I do have the carry handle sight. Used to attend across the course service rifle matches with a RRA NMA4 and M1 Garand. Love iron sights on these rifles! Been quite a few years since I attended a match. Back when I left the Navy I took a job in Ohio and there were a number of clubs that held matches. Since moving back south to NC I’ve had a harder time finding regular matches so I’ve not shot them in an awful long time. I do still take my NMA4 and Garands out to shoot from time to time.

Actually if you look at some previous posts of my 20” Colt (M16A4 clone) you’ll see it. I can always take some closer shots and message them to you.

Looks like a great choice, haven't heard of them before but I would like to get one of these. I was looking at the Midwest industries set which is just about the same price and does not have the ranging option.

Nice flip up, those adjustment knobs/levers look easy to use. Are you going old school and using an ACOG or going new school and getting the M68CCO?
@ChristianGrest Жыл бұрын
I’m going to be running an ACOG I have here that needs a home. Only issue is that it’s in tan. Might try and pick up a more correct version down the road, but dang they’re pricey.

This is what we carried on our M4 carbine rifles in Iraq and Afghanistan. Very good and dependable BUIS. When I built my personal civilian AR15, I purchased and installed one. Back then, they cost roughly half as much as they do today.
@ChristianGrest9 ай бұрын
Nice to hear from personal experience. For sure everything is more expensive. Even used ones are more than they should be. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
@genconex9 ай бұрын
@ChristianGrest I realized the price increase because I recently purchased one for my nephew. I've been tasked with housing the firearms he will inherit from both his late grandfather and father. Last time, I took my nephew shooting the polymer magpul BUIS, his father selected for the rifle, broke. I figured I'd get him the MaTech because I know they're good and have entrusted my life to them during my military years. You will not be disappointed with your choice. Good luck with your KZbin channel.
@ChristianGrest9 ай бұрын
@@genconex definitely more robust than an MBUS from Magpul. I do have a number of those and haven’t had an issue, but they are polymer.
@genconex9 ай бұрын
@ChristianGrest This was the first failure of a Magpul sight I've seen. It was an older and well used sight. Perhaps it was just wear and tear over time. Nothing lasts forever. My nephew will appreciate the MaTech. Both myself (his uncle from his moms side) and his uncle (dad's brother) carried them overseas. Just a few more months, and he'll be old enough to hand everything over to him.
@ChristianGrest9 ай бұрын
@@genconex yea could’ve been the age of the sight. Everything can fail, that’s for sure. Thats really cool holding onto that stuff for him. I bet he’s excited.

yes Christian I have, seems the little metal detent thingy on side has worn down and it just stays up, nothing to keep pressure on it and hold it place, It was my dads AR and he has passed away and left me his guns this is why I actually wanted this same sight fixed, because it was his. I'll just rock it with the rear sight up! LOL😊 That guy I spoke too at MA TECH was so freaking rude it surprised me, even told me a had a old wore out sight! oh well all good @@ChristianGrest
@ChristianGrest Жыл бұрын
@@sandymitchell8182 Kind of an odd solution for your particular scenario, but if you want to fix your original sight, might could find a used one on EBay and just swap out the parts. Sorry man, wished they would take better care of you. Mine has been holding up fine, but it’s not getting hard use.
@kurt18th Жыл бұрын
There is a pin holding the spring in place that'll sometimes walk out. If you take a knife or something thin and push that pin back in, that can usually fix the problem of the sight not clicking down into place. Hopefully that helps!
