I have the Matech sights on my M16A4 and M4A1 clones. I like the sight, it is very reliable and repeatable. My only complain is that the aperture is too small. On my sights I opened the aperture to match the larger aperture on the M16A2 carry handle sight, or the detachable carry handle sight. They are not always marked with the crossed flags and the "Matech" logo. Sometimes they are marked only on the bottom with Matech's CAGE code: 0GU83 The Matech sights are "clone correct" for US Army builds, while the KAC "Big Knob" is clone correct for US Navy/Marine builds. At least with the earlier models...I am not sure with the later "block" models. I understand the URGI models are a little less particular about which sight is used.

Also not all Matech sights are the same. Some are made by other contractors (different cage codes) with dimensions that are kind of different. I had a really worn down one that flipped up by itself; I think this just happens over time (a design flaw). You might like the kac 300m the most, the aperture is pretty large without the insert.

If you need them you are having the worst day of your life, and if you take a hit bad enough to knock out your optic you don’t want to rely on cheap plastic.

@BecomingDangerous0 never said I wanted cheap plastic back upstairs. That's why I made the comment about the KAC 99051 flip up front sight being too overpriced. There are other reasons to have backup irons on your rifle. Backup irons are not always going to be for heat of a gun fight situation and your optic gets hit or goes down and you need to switch. Could be because your out in the field and your batteries die, and you ran through all your spare batteries, so you switch to your backups. Or your optic just randomly craps out on you so you, again, switch to irons.

thoroughbred armament has then for $75 but are sold out. Ebay has a few for 65 right now. someone just sold one on reddit gun accessories for sale for $50 (they had to lower the price from $55) about 19 hours ago (as I type this)
