This is so good that if you slow it down to .25 playback, each note is still correct, rhythm is perfect, articulation is superb, and the phrasing is fantastic. Honestly kind of crazy that you do it all memorized too. Thats INSANE

That walk away at the end though- I can imagine in his head he’s like “let’s go I finally recorded the whole thing 😎😎😎😎”

Lol you're quite right! I remember very vividly this recording session, I recorded this piece twice, beause the fist time I missed the last note in 3rd movement. So instead of clear C-C octave I played C-C-D... LOL... So yeah, the 2nd time when I finished I thought to myslef "ooof... I survived!"

Wonderful! One of the first "real" pieces I learned as a child, and a long time favorite. Love the crispness, accuracy and . . . everything of your playing. New fan and will be following you for more. Best of luck!

I love the chord in the first part of the first movement! It helped me a lot in studying the piano.

It never sounded like that when I played it 46 years ago. Oh, how wished they had KZbin back then. I knew all the notes, but it was up to my interpretation. Too funny. This is great to hear how should have been played.

Thank you very much for this lovely comment, I really appreciate it! Different interpretations, in my opinion, are a wonderful thing :) showing own personality and/or how the composer's intentions are understood is something that makes every performance special and unique. I hope you'll have a wonderful day 😊

This piece is actually amazing! My teacher told me I should play this piece for my competition and she said I could choose if I wanted to do the 1st or 3rd movement. I wanted to know what you think is better(like which one is easier and sounds better because they both sound really good!)
@mat_d_piano Жыл бұрын
It is amazing, and so fun to play! As for the competition - it depends what else you are playing. Even though both movements are quite fast, they have different qualities. The 3rd movement is virtuosic, so it would be a nice contrast to a cantabile type piece, but if you have an etude, this would be too much imo. The 1st. movement has more lyrical stuff in it, so it's more universal, plus the opening would immediately give the opportunity to relax into the keyboard which in a competition setting is a big advantage. Also, it is a bit harder to read but easier to play ;) Ultimately I would suggest to play both for a week or two and see which one suits you better and how it corresponds whit the rest of the repertoire 😊 Have fun and good luck! ✨

I'm hoping you'll see my comment after 4 years of this video of your master interpretation. I'm learning this piece right now, but I don't quite like the sound of it on the first movement and most of the notes on the whole piece feels like they're off in some way. I'm learning it as my repertoire from the university so I have to learn it. What would you recommend in order to make my study session on this piece more efficient? I usually study like 2 hours a day and I'm finishing the 1st movement already but, I'm feeling like I'm not improving anything and like I'm advancing at a really slow pace. Hope you see my comment and thx for this video it helps a lot your interpretation is awesome:)
