I had to pause to giggle a moment when I got there, especially since he specificly brought up Target as an example. I've seen starbucks (a LOT of starbucks) and also Subway but not as much but like... So many different food places just in a Target and it's just you know... life. Walk into a target, there's a Starbucks or a Subway or i swear I've seen an Auntie Anne's in one before just... right by the doors. The one closest to me has a Starbucks on one side of the doors (by the bathrooms fittingly enough) and then on the other side behind all the cashier places I think there's something else but I never go there cuz I have no money to pay attention to whatever else is there. I just notice the starbucks cuz it's hard not to see

I work at a cafe and James' story about the point system game based on how many ingredients the coworker could guess reminded me of something that happened recently. We have a drink called Blue Ocean or Blue Lagoon that is just blue curacao syrup and sprite, we ran out of the syrup so I put in several pumps of vanilla and french vanilla, and then cinnamon bun syrup. It sat for a bit so the ice melted a little and the whipped cream didn't look amazing, but the drink was green like the can of sprite used. I ended up adding lemonade, white chocolate syrup, raspberry black tea, and more. Thankfully I didn't add any milk or coffee, but either way the drink was a green and pink and after stirring it it became a dull pink. I was having my cowokers try it before I listed out the ingredients to them and one of my coworkers was so disgusted, which makes sense, I added stuff I didn't like and it didn't taste amazing. At some point my friend and her brother come in and order something, and I thought it'd be funny to introduce them to my concoction since the last thing I gave my friend was melon-flavoured and she didn't like it. After one sip her eyes widen and she hands it to her brother. As I list out the ingredients laughing, she and her brother pass the drink back and forth taking sips from it, wide eyes staring at nothing. By the time I get the drink back it's all gone, and my coworker in the back is talking to the other one "They heard all the ingredients and kept drinking!?" And that was my one free drink for the day all gone because my friend apparently liked it so much! So my coworkers allowed me to make myself some coffee for free lol. Either way, the only feedback I got was from a coworker saying it tasted like Six Flags, I thought it tasted too cinnamony which is not something I like.

26:20 the gag where I worked was the "Bacon stretcher." Essentially the gag was if you had been there a while and you were dealing with a noob on their 1-3 day in the kitchen, you'd wait until you needed more bacon, then ask them to go back to the rear drive through people and ask for the "bacon stretcher," which in my opinion should've been a red flag from the start because "who stretches bacon?"(but whatever) and while they were back looking for it, you'd set down a set of bacon on the grill so when they came back with a confused look, you'd then say something along the lines of "nevermind, I found it." Then after they sit there confused for a min, tell them it was a prank.

Sometimes people stealing things is just fully the dumbest thing possible. At the store I work at, there are some items we know would be easy to steal and cost enough that the store is like 'yeah, let's prevent that a little bit' so there will be display boxes or cards or whatever that you take to the register and then we go get the thing. The boxes and cards say they're for display and provide the directions. At least 4 times, I've either caught someone shoving display boxes down their pants or into their bags, or had somebody come through my register trying to return a display box for store credit.

Hearing stories like these, both from James (which, I watched these videos years ago so I've heard all his stories) and from you remind me of my own experiences I work at a salad place exclusive to like 2 states in America, Salad and Go, and it's drive through only so we don't even get the advantage of having face to face interactions as we're taking orders to kinda figure out what they want So they try and explain and we have to get very good at describing things to them so they understand 😭😭😭 And the lady who gets the pickles? Reminds me of all the people who come through and get the nastiest combinations of food I've ever made Like, why are you putting balsamic vinaigrette in a breakfast burrito you heathen Why are you putting oil and vinegar in a salad wrap Some people order a salad and then take all the ingredients they would have gotten with the salad off and replace them with new ingredients, to which my coworkers and I make fun of them

My friend was kinda confused and it turns out the manager was subscribed to his old channel on youtube that has 125 subscribers. He made animations but he hasn’t been active in years. On the topic of a robbery: You're actually supposed to do exactly as the robber tells you to do and act as non threatening as possible. They say to give them all the cash in the register? Sir, yes sir. They tell you to give them all the cash in the safe? Ok, I can't do that myself because I'm not a manager and I don't know how to open it but let me get the manager and she'll open it for you. Here you go. Would you like a drink to go with that? Take note of as many details as possible. Then as soon as they walk out the door you call the police. If you refuse to fork over the cash, they can fire you because you'll be considered a liability. The reason for this? If the robber shoots you the company has to pay for the hospital bill. Also, I think if you know the protocol and don't follow it and you get shot, the company isn't liable bc you didn't follow their rules.

"Can you imagine a target just has a fuckin subway?" Hahahahahahaha my local Walmart has a subway in it, the library downtown has a little cafe in it, and the fred meyers where I get my perscription has a Starbucks. The starbucks one isn't even, like, tucked away in a little nook of the wall like a lot of restaurants are when they are inside of stores. There's just a setup right next to the cashiers. You can walk between the wall and the starbucks setup. It's like it's own little section of the store. Yeah, you got your freezer aisle, the bakery, the deli section, fresh fruit, the checkout center, the Starbucks area, the canned food.

On the topic of the rare but exciting moment when somebody gives a fast food worker a huge tip: I have two tip stories. For the first one: picture this. Late at night, only the drive through is open, not many customers but enough to keep us cashiers busy (IDK about the cooks and managers). Only two cashiers, I think one or two managers, somebody is on a late break. Somebody comes up and I don't remember what she ordered but it wasn't an enormous order. The only things I remember about her: she had blond hair and there was somebody else in the car with her. Anyways, she asks me how many people were behind the counter. I took a count and it was six. She gave me seven crisp twenty dollar bills and told me everybody gets a twenty and the seventh one was for in case I missed someone and if not to split it between everybody. (I did forget somebody, but in my defense she was standing in the little nook behind the drink fountain.) I went and got my manager, who said exactly what I was thinking, to the effect of: 'Are you sure? Normally we'd never say no to a tip but this is $140 and I just want to make sure you realize how much this is." She was sure and we all went home twenty dollars richer than we expected. The second one was a guy who asked for two milkshakes of every flavor combined. I was kinda confused, so I clarified and he said he wants every flavor we have combined into two milkshakes. He asked if we could do that bc some of the places he went to had all of the flavors pre mixed and that yes, he was sure, it was delicious at the other places. I'm sorry, what? You've done this before? I told him it would take longer than normal bc if I gave him the usual amount of each flavoring with the usual amount of shake it would be really strong so I took one squirt of each flavoring except oreo, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, mixed them together, poured half of it into another cup, dumped half the usual amount of oreo crumbs in each, and added the other ingredients. This was still twice the usual amount of syrup/crumbs, but I'm terrible at estimating so I had to stick with this bc the alternative was four times as much. Anyways, they came out looking like chocolate oreo milkshakes. I set them on the counter with the spoons rather than bringing them to him bc we were busy. I came back a minute later to find both milkshakes gone as well as the guy that ordered them and in their place was a $20 bill. I can only assume that they came from him. It's been a while and I don't remember if anybody else was inside, so I suppose it could have been somebody else, but this guy was so weird I figured it must be him. And when I say he was weird, that's not a bad thing. The job got so boring that anything weird was welcome and a fun thing to talk about.

No, we wouldn't code each alarm for each person based on social security. Social security is used as an identifier as it is unique to each person so even if they have a name change or the same names as someone else, you can never confuse them accidentally with that person so your history is always with you. It is also important because each person pays into social security and when you reach a certain age, you will be able to withdraw money and retire,

Just one random thing -- Jimmy John's is another sandwich shop that I _presume_ has a rep for being fast, but I have to admit, my local Jimmy John's is right next to a heck of a burger place so every time I'm hungry and near it, I get the burger instead. I also know them because Brock Lesnar, pro wrestler turned UFC fighter turned pro wrestler, had a Jimmy John's logo on his shorts as a sponsorship deal in UFC then _also_ in WWE. It really tied into his character of being only about the money, which, it must be known, all accounts say is _not_ made up for his wrestling persona, to have his own sponsorship, and I've heard that he really did get his own sponsorship deal, and management in WWE allowed it, ironically while often being sponsored by... Subway.

Subway?! In a Target?! Absurd! They'd never be able to compete with Starbucks or Pizza Hut!

I worked at a place called pita pit, it’s like subway but pitas and you pay first. We had a guy come in a few minutes before close. All good. He leaves and we lock up. Then he knocks on the door. And we’re like, hey man, sup? Like maybe he needs the bathroom or something was wrong with his pita. But nope. He’d come there with two people who didn’t want anything and stayed in the truck, and now they were fucking so he wanted to know if he could sit in the store until they finished. So we were like, yeah, and closed around him. Next day the owner found a used condom in the parking lot

When Mathew mentioned how weird it would be if there was a subway in a target, I got smacked in the face with the fact that there are starbucks in a few targets.

11:16 - Oh I felt that one. I'm in a similar field with one of my jobs and at least once a day, without fail, someone will come to me, and ask me to help, I'll give them the answer and their response is, "Nah, can't be that." Alright then, since you seem to already know, go fix it yourself.
