I found it interesting to hear you talk about draw length in association with stability and how little changes make a huge difference. I added an inch to my draw length and seemed to settle down my shot exponentially. As well as improved my posture at full draw, and in turn improved my shot more than I thought possible.
@InsideOutPrecision4 жыл бұрын
Yeah draw length is critical to proper form. Makes a huge difference

As part of your bow reviews, may I suggest that you add a 3-arrow shot sequence. Seeing how it shoots would be beneficial and I think it will help you bring up some additional points. Just my suggestion. Great video! 🎯

Thanx a lot for the video, I think this is the very first one which describes the main differences in the draw cycle of the 80% and 70V mods, and the teaching about the accesories selection was very insightful. I have one question: how the TRX 36 stripped feels compared to the PSE's Evo Nxt 35? I known that the Nxt 35 has a very neutral balance, with both the bottom and upper sides of the risers weighting pretty much the same, and retains the vertical stance sitting in your hand after the shoot. I recently bought a PSE Supra Focus XL LD and albeit lighter than in the specs (weights only 4.96 puntds or exactly 2249 grams instead of the 5.2 pounds advertised) is clearly designed to be used with long front stabilizer, due is top heavy and drops inmediatly towards your face if you let it fleely sitting in your hand. Related to the potential success of the TRX 36 in the competitive landscape this year, I think that will have hard time compared to the TRX 38 and TRX 40 in 2019. Levi Morgan was pretty much forced to use the 40 due his wingspan (the TRX 40 and Halon X Comp were the only Mathews with 32"+ draw length, and the HXC was a bit small for his heigth). Reo Wilde is now shooting the TRX 40, and I guess that if archers as Broadwater or James Lutz ditch their TRX 38 would be for the TRX 40, not the 36 (not sure about Gellenthien, which was using the HXC). The TRX 36 has also some important drawbacks compared to the competition: is msrp is $ ~1,800, in the line with the Hoyt Invicta or the PSE PerformX (which are more expensive to cnc due their pass through risers), but the Bowtech Reckoning 38 ($ ~1,500), Elite Rezult ($ ~1,450), PSE Supra Focus/XL and Prime Black 9 ($ ~1,200) and Bowtech Speciallist II ($ 750) do all offer adjustable draw length whithout the need of aftermarket mods or the use of a press (also the Reckoning, $ 1,400). Most of these bows are close enough in IBO to the TRX 36 while having more stability due larger axle to axle and longer brace heights, and price wise the difference is huge. Even worse: I think that as crossover platforms both the PSE EVO Nxt 35 and the Prime Black 5 just murder the TRX 36 in specs, while saving $ 700.

For a purchase of a TRX 38 used on ebay, can i after purchase easily change the draw length to my DL by swapping out the cam? Or does changing the DL require a new string and cable length?
@msh4413 жыл бұрын
All you need to do is swap out the module and put in the one for your draw length, and desired letoff %. Very, very easy. No bow press required, either. New modules cost about $70-ish, but can be found used for $40-50.
@troywesley40644 жыл бұрын
Your comment on peep height being different from bow to bow is incorrect because you don't shoot a bow at static. The string angle doesn't matter as the distance from your jaw to you eye doesn't change.Try measuring from center of the arrow to the peep at full draw. If you anchor the same, the measurement will be the same no matter what the axle to axle length of the bow is. Therefore you will have the same amount of sight bar to play with on the long shots....providing the arrow speed is the same on both bows.

HI, great review, would this be a good bow for a beginner shooter just for targeting but looking to get into 3D, I had a PSE carbon 34 and most recently bought a bowtech rs350 with a #70 limbs that I couldn't draw back, I am 55 year old and I am looking for something easier to draw I found a TRX36 that is in excellent conditions on eBay and the person stated that DW can be adjusted to any desire weight is that true ?, I understand that most of the bows are 50 to 60# and 60 to 70# and so, are mattews different? please help
@InsideOutPrecision Жыл бұрын
You should have been able to adjust your sr350 down to 50#. On Mathews the draw weight changes 5lbs with one turn, and you can safely take 5 turns out of the limb bolts, meaning you could take a 70lb bow down to 45lbs if you had to. I

Your peep height is same on 36" and 40" at full draw(vertical distance from peep to shaft), and that is only number that affects arrow clearance. Distance from peep to nock at rest is just set up number.
@InsideOutPrecision4 жыл бұрын
If you move your peep further up the string, the distance from peep to shaft at full draw increases. Therefore a lower peep height at rest means a lower peep at full draw
@ObelixCMM4 жыл бұрын
@@InsideOutPrecision I disagree and challenge you to try it. Think about it, does distance from your anchor point to your eye/peep changes with longer ATA bow? If answer is no, your vertical peep height from center of the shaft to peep shouldn't change. If answer is yes, in my opinion you are doing something wrong. Please see this video from John Dudley for better explanation kzbin.info/www/bejne/emWWcplpp82Viqc
@InsideOutPrecision4 жыл бұрын
@@ObelixCMM so with my triax I had a 6 ¼ brace height, my halon x a 5 ⅝", and with my 36 a 5.5". Its a triangle man. If one of the legs lengthens or shortens, the others will change too. On a bow with a short ATA, the string angle is very severe. Thus, distance from the nock to the peep has to increase to reach the same level as my eye at full draw. It's really basic math actually
@InsideOutPrecision4 жыл бұрын
@@ObelixCMM Sorry, that's sounded really rude! Insee what you mean by the distance from the arrow to the peep armful draw wont change, but the distance from the nock to the peep definitely changes with different ATA bows
@ObelixCMM4 жыл бұрын
@@InsideOutPrecision I didn't see it as rude, just a discussion ;) Yes location of the peep at rest will change on shorter ATA bows, but that does not affects sight-arrow clearance. Only thing that will affect it is vertical distance from arrow shaft to peep at full draw. So if we have theoretically identical bows except ATA you would have same clearance between arrow and sight. Problem is that longer ATA bows are usually slower so you will run in to the clearance issue sooner on them. Looking forward to some preview/teaser videos for your training course. Are you planing to do some online/phone support or just video?

Is it beter from prime black 5 ?
@msh4413 жыл бұрын
I have a Black 3, and a TRX 36. I would compare the Black 3/5 bows to the Mathews Traverse. Draw cycle and hold on the TRX is a completely different animal, altogether. With the 70/70v mods, ir feels very similar to a recurve draw cycle, with all the weight of front, tapering off to a solid back-wall (were you need to keep some respectable back tension and pull through the shot). The 80% and new 75% are a little more familiar, with a tad more drop into the hold. But you don’t get anywhere near the forgiveness as the Traverse, or Prime Black bows. It’d a dedicated target machine. If you’re not ‘on-it’, it’ll expose your faults. Definitely go shoot one, and report back what you thought of it.

Yeah I hear you. The speed on a target bow isn't really something that matters IMO. For outdoor you shoot very light arrows at a known distance, so I'm more concerned with how the bow aims and shoots over how fast the arrow gets there
