No disagreements there. I thought Ricky's 125 records were etched in stone, but not at all.

Mike Brown rode really well from 2001 (obviously) thru 2005. He led points for a chunk of 2003, was the only winner other than stew in 2004, led points again in 2005. Of course Stewart winning almost every race thru those years over shadowed Mike's good riding to a degree. He was an 'old' man too!

No question about that. I was pulling for Brown to win the titles in 2003 and 2005 and when he didn't, I was pretty disheartened; 2005 went from a dream to a nightmare, especially when Brown was going the way of a 125cc privateer (as a former National champ). I felt his speed was just fine, but the fact that he quit trying was too painful to watch. I do remember his Budds Creek interview when he said that the 1st moto win was good enough for him, and that 1 good moto for him every weekend satisfied him. On a good note, he did become the first 125cc privateer to win a National since Larry Ward won the Red Bud race in 2001 on a YZ250F w/ a 2-2.

No disrespect to Brown but Stewart was out for the first 4 or 5 rounds then won every round after so he’d have won back to back titles if not injured from SX, what’s more amazing is he AMA introduced rules that hindered the 2 stroke re fuel which made it even harder for the 125s to produce the best power possible yet Stewart was still on another level against bikes with twice the capacity and supposedly easier for the other guys to ride, he still embarrassed them and the 4t brigade I’d been embarrassed having that advantage and being spanked that hard esp as a bike manufacturer, it took rules to rule out 2strokes not technology. Had Stewart had his career in a 2stroke era he’d have won way more titles.

Well, Stew really was a mind-blower riding that KX125 to win after win after win. The fact he won the second 125cc moto by over a minute is so amazing to see.

No disagreements there. He gave us the scrub and the mind-blowing speed, but when he went to San Manuel Yamaha in 2009 for SX-only, his career went down the toilet after that.

Truly JC Cravins was the starter of the scrub. He got laughed at because he did it over every jump. If people who laughed then knew what his funny style would become.

If JC Cravins was on a motorcycle, perhaps that might qualify, but if he were on a BMX bike or something, then it all becomes moot.

In a way it does take me back to those days, but at the same time, ESPN2 didn't treat Motocross really well by showing the race the following week.

That's about the only thing that changed the 125cc class after that besides KTM coming out with their 250Fs and putting the 125cc 2-stroke into RIP mode.

At the 7 minute 56 second mark the scrub that Stewart did he said was an accident. IF you hit that jump to fast it shuts you up and he was trying not to hit Brown, and the loose dirt made his back end kick to the right which caused the scrub. That's why the announcers didn't say anything about it beaing a scrub. That's one reason he's the founder and king of the scrub.
@MathewVsSportsMediaandGames

One could attribute that to Stewart's first race on the Southwick in a couple of years prior (2002 where he went DNF-1).

@@ryanbarker4422 I think Stewart was better on the 4-stroke. He couldn't win on the 250cc 2-stroke against 37 others in 2005 MX, and he even said he needed a 4-stroke to keep up with Ricky, Chad, and Kevin.
