Most folks that had even just one parent that consciously instilled certain morals, principles, and values in them as well as made a pointed effort to simply show them alternatives to the street life came out almost infinitely more balanced individuals in adulthood then their peers. Most the cats that was the wildest when I was coming up parents had them real young and was still wilding in the streets themselves while they were growing up...

In the 70's it was blaxplotation films you had to be a pimp and hustler to get paid. In the 80's it was crack flooding the communities, you had to be a baller. Socially conscious rappers came on during the Golden era and the record labels replaced them with gangsta music, so now you have to be a killer.
