Ok Lets Talk Science. Top lyricism is about profound simplicity. Mark Twain once said "If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter." He knew that composing simple structures is far more difficult than a complicated one. Simplicity is the language of the universe. Occam's Razor states that "The simplest explanation is the correct one." Einsteins E=MC2 equation is only an inch long, yet it explains laws found in our entire universe. Profound simplicity. I consider Bob Marley to be the best lyricist because he could convey profound, heartfelt ideas in such a simple, universally understood form. It's all about simplicity...Profound simplicity.
@iCoola.Entertainment3 жыл бұрын
The world is a much more complex place than from what it seems, and from what is even being taught in science classes - they teach models that do have practical use but aren't exactly the most accurate representation of reality. 85% of people (or 67% according to normal distribution in statistics) will prefer a more simpler world and entertainment solutions against getting to know the more complicated truth. So the lazyiness in people drives the majority of market demand - it creates the taste. Its not because simplicity is a supreme way of communication that it wins, but because its a quicker way that demands less effort on the receiving end. However, normal (average) people are rarely the ones who change the world or introduce something that adds new (at first complex) value.

I dont think people realize rap is literally poetry. Syllables, metaphors, similes, personification, alliteration are all apart of writing.
@geraldkilganmen49102 жыл бұрын
Yes. Its poetry with sounds. You can't ignore the sounds factor. He is. Even in poetry if you recite it, the same rules apply. It is matching the sounds together. Something doesn't have to be a "perfect" rhyme to rhyme. Ple rhymes with se nty rhymes with nty when you break down the sounds you start to understand why it sounds like it rhymes. The only reason it sounded off when he was "breaking it down" was because he wasn't breaking ut down all the way. He was half assing it. Seventy has an extra syllable then plenty; that doesn't mean it doesn't rhyme. These are stylistic choices not objective bases to stand on. That's why lyricism comes in many different forms, it's not that any are better they're just different with different; for lack of a better word, parameters.

yeah but what sticks to mind is the sounds u can be the most technical rapper but if no single soul remember your song whats the point.🤣 believe me youll remember this line than the second one. 1."ill come back to kill you with machete and pistols" 2."Creepin on the block,unprepared ill attack,front to back,you will feel my attack,like tupac in 96,youll drop befo i say hit em up".

Rhymes that are not perfect based on manipulating the syllabic flow or pronunciation is called slant rhymes. Why Em’s writing is so popular is because his rhymes schemes, simple or complex, are easy to follow and understand. He often mixes both into a single song using the one syllable to emphasize emotion and getting the message across slower and more clearly and using multi-syllable to showcase rapping prowess or to flip the cadence and add energy to the song. Also, his songs almost always have a focused message. If you stick to the subject, it’s easier for listeners to follow. Even in his crazy slim shady songs he has a specific subject as absurd as they may be. There’s a reason half the world knows the words to his songs. He knows how to choose and write a flow that resonates with the subject matter.

If we applied Cass’ concept of the “science” of rhyming to other forms of artistic expression you wouldn’t have great Jazz musicians who don’t follow the “rules” of chord progressions or great painters who ignore the standards of what colors are supposed to go together or chefs who don’t stick to regular food and flavor profiles. Rhyming syllable for syllable - abcd, adcd, abcd is regular, but if you can put abcd and hijk in a verse but do it in such a way that I “feel” like it makes sense, that’s the artistry. If you listen to Rakim’s I Know You Got Soul, using Cassidy’s logic you would call it basic and not rhyming. Ra rhymes “red alert” and “let it work”. Does it rhyme in the literal sense? No. Does it sound dope how Rakim does it? Absolutely!

Also the very first “punchline rap” was spit by Kool Moe Dee at the infamous battle with Busy Bee, that’s where the actual rap basically originated from, before that battle rap was just a party music based around rhymes like “Throw your hands in the air and wave em like you just don’t care”.

Y’all not getting the point. Cas holds em in high regard, he even has punchlines saying he’s slim shady in black skin. He’s saying he can talk regularly in ways, phrases, cadences you hear everyday but mixing in multi-syllables in a natural flow that makes sense, with constant punchlines. That’s what makes him so unique, accessible but skilled. When people get too nerdy and anti social and technical with it, people start to miss an important point and it disconnects a lot of people’s attention trying too hard to make something unnatural work. By saying eminem is technical but not always technical he’s crediting em for switching things up and really studying the game. If ur a cas fan u already know cas holds em in high regard that’s a given

@@howiestyles4938 actually no. Cass was trying to say that his preference of what true rap or hip hop is, is science when in fact, his preference is just that. It's not science. It's not the measuring bar or the standard for hip hop. It's his preference. And he tried to mask it as such. He literally said nothing more than his preference or his opinion on what hip hop or rap is and used old Em lyrics to try and validate his point. Not only that eminem makes you wanna learn and truly listen to his raps and to make it like a puzzle while listening and thats why every song he makes literally always catching something new when you listen to it over and over through out ya life listening to his rap vs abc rappers like cass who wanna shorting his craft and make it easy to understand and hear. Being competitive and objective is one of the keys to success. A competitor has to fully commit to a style and see it as the absolute truth. Even if the truth is subjective, that’s his angle and what he retards as the highest level. If you interview a lot of high performers, athletes, artists- you’d get a similar answer.

@@howiestyles4938 Idk man, his perspective on how the “Talking rap style is the only legit rap style” pretty much counts out every part of the country besides the east & west, and most underground artists! 😂 The south especially! Style is just that, STYLE, and that’s what makes artists unique! By his standards, a group like BONE THUGS N HARMONY would be garbage! 🤦🏻♂️ Then when he was asked about artists who don’t fit his standard but are dope, he said every artist has their own thing that makes them special (Mobb Deep was used in that example) which is hypocritical as hell, cause he literally went against what the whole basis of his opinion was! Once you start making exceptions, it changes the entire dialogue!

What makes many of the rappers great from the 90’s and early 2000’s, is you do what works for you. It’s called art, and true MC’s articulate their comfort zone. No one can tell you what you should do with your art, it’s called creativity. Not one person has a formula, that works for everybody. You work your lane. When you true to that, you are an artist that’s, authentic.

Their should be science to it at the same time. You cant rap too simple & have too many rhymes that sound like Dr Seuss type rhymes, Even rappers now you think aren’t lyrical, use science in their rap & there’s a certain structure to it where there’s syllables & things. Lil Durk most popular song now is “Ah Ah Ah” and uses two word syllables: “I been slow since” “But we got back on they ass, I bet they know this” “And on bro, I’m speaking facts, this ain’t no diss” “Keep the police out my business, we don’t post shit” “Trigger Happy, I be with Zoo & them and we on four six” “They like, Durk, his ass a singer, he won’t smoke shit” “You can believe whatever you want, I got your folks hit” Words like slow since, know this, no diss, post shit, four six, smoke shit and folks hit are two word syllables. Lil Baby on the Pop Smoke song “For the Night” had a bunch of rhymes before the end rhyme. On Nicki Minaj “Seeing Green” she uses an 8 word syllable scheme where she’s rhyming D&G, wallet, money and papa & adding so many rhymes that match the words with the previous line that didn’t rhyme. Guys like Durk, Lil Baby and Nicki can rap but some purist might not think they all that. A lot of fans are ignorant regarding rap & the science to it & the rhyming. A lot of fans & media don’t understand the concept of how hard it is to fit a lot of rhymes & syllables and incorporate that content or conversational rap to it. Finding the science of creativity in rap is hard to understand but when you understand it you appreciate it
