Some expect little melodies ... and will be disappointed. These great sweeps of sound try to take you along in the great spaces. Thank you for giving us a chance to fly. ~H~

When you've heard one Matthias Grassow track, you've heard them all.

Good album. Reminds me of Immersion One by Steve Roach.

Grassow isn't in the same league as Steve Roach, though.

I can only listen to space ambient during the warmer seasons.. otherwise it leaves me feeling too cold. Perfect for summer nights though

This is just SO magnificent. Thx so much man!

reminds me of ecstatic moments from Peter Michael Hamel's Organum that goe on forever into space in crystalline purity, or the wonderful drone simplicity of Jon Gibson: Cycles, his other album on vinyl I have, Reflections, is more underwater than interstellar, churning chugging layers of sound that evoke snorkelling as a kid, boats and other sounds adding to the aural mix.

I know next to nothing about this guy and probably should remedy that. I haven’t heard a piece by him I haven’t liked. On the one hand it isn’t lazy or insipid in that New Age-y way which can make all the difference in ambient music. For starters, it makes it not ambient and actively annoying. There’s a pretty subtle thread of darkness or menace in everything i’ve heard. At the same time it doesn’t sound like I’m playing one of the cheesier updates of ‘Castlevania’. This guy and Robert Rich are my two happiest ambient discoveries of the year.

Are you serious? This is nothing but the same static tone for 45 min. Worst ambient sound ever...
@adambushell-jones62267 жыл бұрын
You clearly didn't listen for long, its 4 completely different characterized tracks. The arrangement for the track is intended this way, its meditative and reflective music; its hard to achieve this with vivid dynamics, a noticeable groove and sudden changes. Its static in this way for a reason but Its hardly 'the same static tone for 45 min', its full of an array of textures and frequencies.

Adam Bushell-jones You'r right, i re-visited it on my Hi-fi. It didn't work from phone speaker ;) very subtle tho
@adambushell-jones62267 жыл бұрын
Oh i see, yes a phone speaker is probably not best for this kind of music! haha
