I am so glad that you posted this video, as I just bought one of these for my granddaughter and knew absolutely NOTHING about them!! I was looking for someone different for her birthday, something that a teenager would appreciate and still affordable. Thanks to your video, I am now feeling secure in my purchase and understand more of what I have purchased for her. I of course, had a general idea of what it was at the time of my purchase, but your video helped me to understand MUCH more. Hi MathX, I just got the XP-Pen G640. I want to use it for a class I'm teaching online on music. The biggest thing I want to be able to do is draw with the students. Show them how to draw clefs, and musical notes. Do you think this will suffice? Please advise. Oh, when you load he pen, is there's an installation? I didn't see you do one. Thanks!!

Hi Manny, you can definitely do that with star g640. If you want to buy a tablet and use it for years, I recommend you to buy other xppen products. However, if need one for one/two years, g640 does the job. You can do, teach music with most tablets on the market. It is not a problem. There is a software you can download. In your video, you stated it was not a good graphics tablet for teacher but you never said why you feel that way. Please state your reasoning that your feel it is not good for online teaching. My sister and I are both teachers (from different districts) and her district bought their teachers one. She teaches remotely. What downsides she should be aware of?

Hi George, you can definitely teach online with this. There is nothing wrong with the tablet but it is not designed for teachers. This is an old model which is used in gaming. Thats why it has a glossy surface. It is better to teach online with matte surfaces bcz writing on matte surfaces is easier. Fir example, this is a newer xppen model which I beleive better for teachers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5jIhWyshNeUadE Having express keys is also another plus and they include better pens for newer tablets.

Hi there, it is magnetic. There is a coil-and-capacitor resonant curcuit in the pen and it produces electro magnetic signals.

I am not using mac but I know It works with macos so, I beleive it works with high sierra. But here is what the website says about mac: "It is compatible with Mac OS X version 10.10 or later. For Mac Mojave (10.14), Catalina (10.15) Users: Mac Mojave 10.14 or Above needs to add the "PenTabletSetting" and "PenTabletDriverUX" into the accessibility list first after installed XP-PEN Driver. Details steps please see the FAQ section on the XP-PEN web. Mac Mojave (10.14) or above OS upgrade in the security section, you need to put programs you newly downloaded into the accessibility list first to normally use it." I hope it helps.

Right at the start the "explanation" of how to use the tablet is hopeless: you say "connect to the computer" but unfortunately the actual "connection" is overlaid by a panel that says the "language of nature is mathematics". Exactly how are you "connecting" and what are you using to "connect" and what computer are you connecting to? Earlier you show a charging cable, and it appears (though it's not stated) you are using that cable to physically connect to the tablet to the computer. Any teacher knows that you have to explain the basics clearly at the beginning (even in math). Of course you could instead start the video by saying "I'm going to assume that you already know how to use the VP-PEN Star G640", and title the video "xp-pen starG640 for experts".
