As someone who is about to take Discrete Mathematics, Thank you for this simple explanation. I've been trying to explain what it is to my family, most of who did engineering in other disciplines and took different math courses, what discrete math is. Now I'll just show them this video instead.

@retro5277 жыл бұрын
no lol because math and science are all made-up. Don't believe "science" and "math" it's all just a way of tricking the masses. Look at America, Trump finally exposed the media and their "news." And he dropped budget for NASA because they couldn't even confirm the Earth is round (not flat which it actually is). Don't trust NASA or science.

hmm, a circle has an infinite number of point, it depends, √2 has infinite numbers after the comma but √2 can be represented by the hypothenuse of a square triangle of 1unit lenght in both side, but a segment does not have an infinite number of point, yet √2 can be represented by a segment. You see the patadox, it is because we omitted a third factor which is time, a circle has an infinite number of point when time flows, but have a finite number of points when time stops, √2 length segment has an infinite number of point when time flows but have a finite number of points when time stops. In reality time flows, but when printed or "encapsulated" or maybe rendered by a machine a circle has obviously a finite number of points.
@shawniscoolerthanyou8 жыл бұрын
Your error lies in that a line segment does contain an infinite number of points. Because for every two points on that line segment, I can find a point between them.
@pretty_jaded4806 жыл бұрын
I think a good simple way to illustrate how this is wrong is to take any number and divide it in half until you get to zero. You will find you never do, though you get infinitely closer to it. There are infinite half way points between any two points. Though as you get smaller it gets negligible in most cases, though given the name discrete mathematics, I am willing to bet that for this practice it’s never really negligible.
