Maths isn't always easy in Biology, so I'm glad this video is helping you :) But remember this only covers the equations, what they actually do and what the symbols mean - you still need loads of practice to make sure you know how to use them! Thanks for watching :D

In psychology when the test has an R in it the calculated value has to be greater or equal to the critical value to reject the null. The 't-test' has no R in it so the calculated value must be less than or equal to the critical values to reject! (and so there is a sig difference). Obviously this is not the case for biology as in the t-test above it states that there is no sig difference when the calculated value is less than the critical value. Anyway my question is....is that how it is calculated for every test? In that there will always be no sig difference if the calc value is less than critical value. Hope that makes sense, thanks for the video!
@BioRach5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about Psychology - might the best idea to ask your teacher soon! But yes, if the value calculated is smaller than your critical value, then there will be no significant difference/correlation (depending on what test you're doing). Thanks for watching :D

Just a suggestion, but could you do a video on 'how to plan the perfect investigations/experiments?' (so including variables, controls and etc). It seems to be a pattern for these questions to come up in the OCR A spec from the last two years. Great video by the way!

Good idea! I'll see if I have time to make that soon... It's now on my list :) Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!

For Q10 calc why don't we do R2/R1 to the power of 10÷T2-T1 ? I know that in this example the answer is the same but would it be so for other calculations ? Thanks
@BioRach5 жыл бұрын
There may be another way to calculate Q10, but this is the one you need to learn from AS Biology, as taught from the spec. I don't understand the method you've shown so I'm not sure about the other calculations will give you the same result... Sorry! But thanks for watching :)

I don’t understand , in the T-test ,the bottom of the equation , you said wrk out the SD and divide by n1, I don’t understand what the SD is or how u got it ?
@BioRach5 жыл бұрын
Like I said in the video, you'll need to have done standard deviation (SD) first, as you use the SD value within your t-test equation to find the t-value. Having said that, in exams they will either: 1. Give you SD, then ask you to work out the t-value and do a conclusion OR 2. Ask you to work out SD, then give you the t-value and ask you to do a conclusion on the t-test Hope this helps!

Should be. The key difference between exam boards is the style of questions/mark scheme, the science and maths themselves should be exactly the same.
