Kratos kills himself to release Hope to the human race. This is his last "f*** you" to the gods as he saw Athena, an Olympian, trying to take power to possibly enslave humanity once again. With hope the humans will no longer need the gods and they will be forgotten, putting an end to Olympus once and for all.

I haven't watched completely yet but I want to say that you are one of the best playthroughts I've seen of the greeks games, that's because not a lot of people go back and play them, instead they start with GOW (2018) and just watch summary of the old ones, so, knowing you wanted to start from the beggining gave hope for the future and you exceeded my expectations. It was interesting seeing you learn the mechanics in GOW1 and how you develope during that same playthrought and GOW2 and 3. Not only the gameplay but the strory, it's very clearly that you care about it and not dismissed it just because of the nature of the saga. With the trilogy already played, you travel in the new games will be more impactful and can not wait to see your experience. I was hoping that in some way you could have play the spin-offs before the new one because of the references (also because even though they are spin-offs have incredible stories who explore more of Kratos's character, especially Ghos of Sparta), but knowing you know the basics is enough. Thank you for playing the greeks game and I'm hoping to see you play GOW (2018) very soon. Fun fact: Kratos was a guest character in MK9 and his stage was the one where you have you first fight with Zeus. That could be the reason why is made with that perspective.

You are the first KZbinr (that I stumbled upon) who went through the entire og Trilogy, and you inspired me to go and dive into the lore of all the official games by watching "all cutscenes" videos of them. Thank you for this journey indeed. However, a few thoughts of mine: at the end of this game two plot points are presented to both Kratos and the player. "To forgive someone you first need to forgive yourself" and "Hope is what we fight with when all else is lost". And in my opinion they failed in this moment of story. Chronologically, Kratos was not a god since the start of GOW2, and ever since then it's a 2-game journey to the top of Olympus with Kratos being a mere mortal. SO, there was no need to thrust the Sword of Olympus inside of his body, since all the godly power was in the sword already(plus, Zeus sucked the power out of him one last time before putting him into "Fear" dream). The simple truth is that Kratos wanted to die, because his path of vengeance was over. He has no one to forgive, because everyone is dead and the world is in ruins; and Hope did not help him defeat Zeus, his blinding rage did. He did not forgive himself, and he did not have hope for himself to start a new life. Yes, we have 2 more (reboot) games ahead with Kratos leaving Greece and starting a new life in the land of Norse gods. But what he did after he killed his father was supposed to be a meaningful choice of his own, finally laying to rest; he was supposed to die. I think it's possible to speculate that Athena admitted her defeat and felt remorse, so she revived him somehow behind the scenes. And he left

I feel like at the end he took vengeance on himself. All this time he sought vengeance on Zeus, thinking by killing him, he’d find peace or that something inside would change. After killing Zeus and finally achieving his goal, he looked around and he realized the world is in ruin. He realized he destroyed everything and everyone cause of his selfishness and it didn’t make him feel any different. So in the end he says “My vengeance ends now.” And he ends his vengeance by killing himself.

It’s such an amazing, artistically choreographed theme, and it plays at such a wonderful moment, and the climax??? Oh my god the CLIMAX of it, god it just hits so well, and I use this theme as inspiration for boss fights, mainly end game ones, because I’m an artist, and this theme is the perfect representation to use for buildup and a Grand Finale, such a powerful theme. 19:34 in that "other one" he is actually refering to a kratos' family member. as for him being a other "pawn" option is explained in God Of War Ghost Of Sparta (gow1 sequel and gow2 prequel) where there is a HUGE AMOUNT of lore not just for kratos family and why he is extra pissed with the gods but also about that profecy and shit about a spartan and/or a god of war bringing destruction to Olympus and what the gods where doing to prevent it. i would recommend you play it before gow 2018 and ragnarok since you'll probably miss plenty of stuff

YESS WAS WAITING!!! , before i watch the video here are some fun facts: So there were multiple endings to GOW 3. A developer of the GOW series (Stig Asmussen, i believe) said there was a planned longer ending but they (Santa Monica studios) didnt want to be tied down making the same type of game so we ended up getting a clean slate so that they cud do something new in the future. One where as a result of fighting with Kratos, the gods neglect humanity and so mankind loses faith in them which in turn destroys the gods (as gods operate n draw power from faith). Kratos would then cut his wrists to get rid of the blades (not super clear on this one, dont remember much). The story then concludes with a narrator saying how humanity always needs something to believe in, all while u play as a wiseman following a star. Ushering in the new religion and pantheon. This ending was actually hinted in othe first game with an interactive secret painting. If u havnt guessed already the new religion wud be Christianity with kratos being on of the three wisemen. Thank fuck that didnt happen. The second ending would hav been Kratos's realization of the fact that he can’t die and so he melts the Blades of Chaos and turns them into a scythe becoming the Grim Reaper.(kinda cool) . also a fun little thing, u know how opening pandora's box set all hell loose n drove the gods nuts? n also how each time u kill a god a curse befalls on the land? well its a theory that after killing athena n GOW2 the 'Wisdom' also died from the world, further driving the gods insane. also at 41:53 that black smoke coming out of Zeus is 'Fear' he was afflicted by fear when the box was opened n so feared kratos, after fear gets released he is basically confused as to why he is fighting his own son n so doesnt put up a fight. There was a cut content in which Zeus apologizes for wht he has done, u hav to remember Zeus SPARED kratos when he was a child, so he wasnt All bad from the beginning (he is still a bitch). Cant wait for GOW 2018 N Ragnarok !!!

The difference between zeus and kratos is that when zues had power, zeus ruled over the world and enslaved and tortured people and kept himself on top as the KING. While when kratos had the power of hope, he sacrificed himself to give that power to the world.

For the next game I recommend "Give Me a Challenge" difficulty. It's on par with your average Fromsoft title, difficulty-wise i.e. tough but manageable

No. For a first timer I do not recommend that. The game is long and on that difficulty will take even longer. I wont go into details cause I dont wanna spoil game mechanics and enemies and bosses names.

Don’t worry, even in 2018 and Ragnarok, you still have the OG Kratos. The choices we made in these games and characters we’ve met they all have implications on Kratos, who he is and his character development.
