A lot of people are talkin about voice cracks and things-imo for the kids-these kids are what, 8-11 at most? It takes unbelievable memory and breath control to sing/enunciate while dancing full out on a possibly unfamiliar stage. I commend these kids cause Revolting children (this specific version) is one of my favorites. Love the chord switch when the big kids come on stage. This is such a fun production and I commend everyone for this job well done

Pretty sure they also took up the key for the first song (Naughty) and the third one (When I Grow up) for orchestration purposes, hence the cracks. Still super talented and agree with everything else mentioned here!

My only question is why is matildas hair so undone?
@trogdorthe8th
@trogdorthe8th Жыл бұрын
@@MyBitch925 That was the look they were going for, and many over the years have surmised that it's meant to be a sign of parental neglect. Sure, some of the other kids have wild hair, but it's still styled and to the point. With Matilda, this is an example of how her parents don't care for her enough to even notice something as simple as making sure that her hair is brushed every day. It's quirky, but also sad when you realize the context of all the abuse she suffers.

Um… if this is the original cast, 13 almost 14 year old Ted Wilson played Eric. But he looked very young. He’s 21 now so he would be much too old for the role now

i often come back to this video to admire how the creators of this number (i mean specifically this tony performance) went out of their way to put every single swing in the number - even giving them that special moment with miss honey. i don't know that i've ever seen another show do this before at the tony awards & it's always always stuck with me.

This performance was honestly so amazing, people like to point out little mistakes but let’s look at the overall picture, these kids were able to get on stage and not only sing amazingly but preform an extremely entertaining act with soooooo much personality! It’s so cool to see how talented they are and it went very well! Side note: it was so cute when they were all just scootering around stage 😭

It wasn't an accident. For televised performances, Naughty and When I Grow Up are always sung in a higher key. Naughty is higher to make the transition into Revolting Children sound better, and I'm not sure why the key of When I Grow Up is higher for TV performances, but it's always been that way.

Movies and theatre are two very different media. On the stage, you have to be extremely "loud" and super expressive to reach the entire audience. But this sort of acting is often jarring in a movie, because everything is more "realistic" and up close. So I think the kids in the movie were perfect for the big screen.

Me too and I’m a 48 year old man. It’s very odd for me. Lol. Seriously. It makes me happy every time that kid sings at the beginning. Every great musical is centered around a revolt of some type. Here is your basic man vs. evil. But the worst kind, the British headmaster angry no good in her person. No chance of redemption. Minchin is now on par with Webber.
