Hi Scott. I am using System 3 T-88 epoxy and it's a lot like G FLex. So far I really like it.

The one part of this whole skinning process is how does one develop the original pattern shape before taking it to the boat for further refinement? I’ve seen you use G10 to make patterns in other videos. If I don’t have G10 yet is there another suitable alternative and what would be your steps?

Plan B is to cut it radically oversize and slowly whittle it down until it fits. A large sheet of heavy paper can be super helpful.

If I can't get any of that 410 filler what else can I use, plywood saw dust?

Yes I'm sure that would work, but the larger particle size of sawdust will reduce the overall strength of the material, so I wouldn't use it for structure where strength is the priority

Hey there I’m making a hydroplane but it isn’t the same as yours. It’s a modern unlimited hydroplane and I can’t figure out a good way to get the sponsons done without a template. Is there any good way to do it or is there a template for it somewhere?

I'm not sure what you're asking? The basic construction is the same, except you'll use a bit more wood for the sponson chines so you can sand a nice rounded edge

@@M5PerfHydros sorry I meant the wood you need to cut out for the sponsons. Like the panels that go on the sponsons, I don’t know how to cut them out without a template

Oh the skins for the sponsons? There are no such templates since every build will be different. Do what I do... Guess and guess again until it fits. Use cardboard initially and cut the pieces oversized, then just keep trimming until it fits or it doesn't. Take your time and don't hesitate to throw a piece away and start over if you cut too much. Be patient and persistent, and eventually you'll get it. NOW make a pattern set from your final pieces so that you can easily make new sections if/when you need to repair the boat in the future.
