one of the best aspects on this movie is they uplift the art of Silat, the well known martial arts practice among Malays. If you watch closely, Mat Kilau and all his comrade are all well equipped with the keris (dagger), sabit (scythe), tekpi/chabang (the short, trident-like weapon), etc, All of these are among the most common weapons used in Silat. Also, there are tons of style in Silat. Trivia- majority of the actors casted in this movie have foundation in Silat themselves. For example, Adi Putra (Mat Kilau) mentioned in one of his interviews that he learnt 'SIlat Kalimah' at Pulau Jawa (Java, Indonesia). Beto Kushairi (Wahid) also was active in 'Silat Gayung' during his junior years. Fattah Amin (Awang) also has background in 'Silat Gayung Fatani' & used to be an athlete, and represented Kuala Lumpur in the 2010's National Silat Championship. Ali Karimi (Brahim), the newcomer in Malaysian movie industry, was also a practitioner in Silat before he was casted in this movie.
