I wish more people would explain that in order for the area under the ROC curve to be a metric, the dataset must be balanced. What are the precision/recall scores?

Im wondering what kind of input variables are in perfcurve ... I have data that are vlaued 0.01-0.5 for exemple and I need to find the best threshold to seperate them
