once again we have the proof that a better development is much more worth than winnig a pawn in the opening... Alekhine never seems to be in trouble during this match. Very helpful

The Alekhine Defense was my main stream opening for roughly a year. Every so often I still play it but I usually steer away from it due to its non-promising nature. Make no mistake, the opening is not by any means inferior. The problem with it is it can turn into too many different things. When I play the Sicilian Defense, I usually have a pretty good idea of what's gonna happen. When I play the Alekhine Defense, I have no idea what's gonna happen.

According to chess engine stockfish 7, 8. ... Bc5 is better than 8. ... Qh4. According to the chess engine, after 8. ... Qh4, 9. g3 is much better than 9. Kf1. The theory of this opening variation is not really common knowledge since it is so rarely played at the grandmaster level today.

Mato, at the Critical moment would Bishop to G1 work? If King takes then Knight to F3, winning the white queen.

It would have been difficult to visualize Fischer's Q sac vs Byrne in 1956, or even the moves after that. Maybe simpler logical moves are easier to visualize than innovative.

Alekhine was a genius..More than the Alekhine defence , his concept of the Alekhine block during the king hunt is of profound significance..Many club players suffer against this tactic during tournaments...( once a good chess player told me during a tournament that if you hv to sacrifice a minor piece to prevent a Alekhine block , do it..At least you will fight longer..)

Aydin . Alekhine is #1 Palyer At that Time. And Paul Keres is #3 In let 50s 60s. Both player is Spectacular But. Alekhine Had "Great Imagination" And We should Learn From His Game. His Every Move Has Concrete Purpose.

Which is more important? the bishop or the knight
@BrosHeadshot8 жыл бұрын
in closed position knight > bishop in opened positon bishop > knight but, in general, the modern theory shows that the bishop is a (very, very) little bit stronger.
@char2528 жыл бұрын
Also, a bishop pair is usually more important than a knight & bishop, or a pair of knights.
