Mato, thanks so much for these videos. The past two series on Keres and Alekhine have been fantastic. I started playing chess only a few years ago and these have helped me understand and improve on my chess a ton. How wonderful it is to get to know the game through these masters! What a game this was!

Delightful game indeed. If I didn't know the names of the players, I would have thought Capablanca was playing the White pieces...

What a beautiful job by the 2 rooks, Alexander A. Really work its purpose!!!!!

Alekhine was good at the opening, well he discovered his own opening, Alekhine was master of middlegame, and now I know he was also good at endgame. I would love to "see" match between Botvinnik and Alekhine. It is sad that Alexander died before that.

What would have happened if at 2:05 the White Horse (E4) moved to D6?

6:27 -- If my knight were under attack like that, I would normally be in despair at the prospect of losing it. But now I see that even in such positions, it's possible to win.

Gorgeous. It took more vision than I possess to see the won endgame available after the exchange of Queens. Was there no alternative for Black but to accept the exchange?
@_checktease55298 жыл бұрын
black could have chosen to exchange works on the Open Sea file but then he would have had a lost a game in which his Bishop would be inferior to the knight given the fact that all of that spawns are on the same color as his Bishop

Fred Yates, without whom so many "best games of the masters" books would be woefully thin. An unappreciated genius.

if knight from E4 do D2 then knight from D6 to B4. Black bishop takes bishop on G6, and one continuation is black knight on f3 takes d6, queen takes d6, white queen takes b4, and black queen takes g2. Black is better in every variation

On a rare occasion, Yates beat the great man, chasing his king all over the board before finally mating. Alekhine went to his hotel room and smashed all the furniture. He didn’t like to lose.
