I was working on the killer move for like 15 minutes. Alekhine is truly one of the most imaginative players. Mato, your closing "losing" variation that you came up with at the end was hilarious. Definitely loving the whole Alekhine series.

That moment when you find the killah move without even pausing... few things in life are so satisfying as that.

same here, felt like were pros.. but then again alekhine found the killah move like 5-7 moves "before" that position xD

Thanks for making a video on this game, Mato. There's a good lesson, for me: look for a pawn that is doing too much (defending two pieces at once) then take one of those pieces...the other is now undefended.

Thank you Mato! And while Alekhine was in Baden Baden in 1925 he played an amazing game against Reti. Your instructive commentary would be wonderful. :)

Thanks Mato. Did you skip the New York Open 1924 for a reason? Although Alekhine finished third his annotations are brilliant and very instructive.

Instead of the crushing Bxh3.., I found c4.. which forks the White Bishop and Knight (c4 is defended by the Black Queen) - it seems to tactically work out no matter what White does...

These Alekhine games rock for sure! I think towards the end instead of Rxg4, AA can also play Qxg4 should win just as fast if not faster. If at 5:55 Qxg4 and White might try something like Bh3 (what else?) then Bb8+ d6 Bxd6+ Rxd6 Qg1 check mate :>

I've seen this happen more than a few times: so why do players castle in the direction that the oppositions pieces are aiming for? If the bishops are pointed to the left side of the board i'd want my king on the right side. Hmmmm?

Why did black play Bishop to F5 and captured H3 after White plays Bishop to D3, instead of capturing H3 right away?

6:11 white rook to d3 is defending? I'm confused. That IS the best defense.

Fortunately Mato explores few variations but in detail as he enjoys doing so. Not cause he knows there are dumb people like me who wouldn't solve it after watching almost all his videos.
