Alekhine made such tactical analyses so swiftly that it was difficult to believe he hadn't prepared the variation in private. It gives plausibility to the assertion, quoted in Horowitz's _The World Chess Championship,_ that "He lived for chess, and for chess alone."

On my friend's birthday I gave him a nice wooden chesboard as a present. We used to play often until one day he got kind of upset with me after he lost a game. He told me he hated that I win more games even though I clearly have no idea whatsoever about openings. To be honest I had no idea what he was on about, I learnt chess when I was 3 years old through my older brother, and we only knew the rules so I thought that was all there's to know about. Since my friend told me about openings I began to be more interested in the matter, as I was already 29 years old by then (2010). It was then that I discovered matojelic videos and I got hooked to them all. Thanks to you Mato I have not only rediscover chess but you have also made me improve a lot more. I wish you the best in life and thanks again for your efforts, passion and enthusiasm

I would like to add, that the increase of being able to see many of the "killa moves" and the follow-up compared to all these years watching your videos is a very rewarding feeling

I realize now that Alekhine must have been influenced by Morphy. Many of their games have a sense of inevitability about them, like it could only end with a brilliant checkmate. Its so brilliant to watch these games.

I haven't got the purpose of Ne5 move. I predicted Rh8+ or g6 with big attack and possible check-mate. I think playing g6 right away serves the same purpose, distracting the queen and playing Qc4 overloads the black queen if Rf7, Rh8 mate with same idea.
@Shuloon816 жыл бұрын
If not for that knight sacrifice, black would still have a pawn on d6 and after white tries Qc4+ black just pushes that pawn to d5 to block the check. The knight sac got that pawn away so there was no blocking the Queen check without getting mated.
@dmproduction13846 жыл бұрын
Ke5 was an extraordinary moves. That makes black pawn on d6 can't defends Qe4+ . Alekhine saw Qe4+ would be a winning move if the black didnt have the D pawn. So with his immagination he found the Ke5 moves. Insist black to take that Knight with the d6 pawn. If black Queen takes, white g6 would be the winning move. I wonder how can Alekhine places his pieces to have a many option for the killer move. Did he saw it and has a plan in the last 10 moves or even more????
