Now that you have quite a collection of games by famous players, perhaps you could consider making biographical videos? To differentiate from other documentaries, maybe spend only 1/4 of the vid for standard bio stuff like early life and chess career, inspiration to play chess, etc. Then the rest for discussing a player's style, strengths and weaknesses of such style, how it worked, and how it sometimes didn't work against players of the same era. You can show game segments, or even link your older vids for viewers interested in deeper analyses. I love your channel and believe this type of video will greatly benefit from your presentation style and wit.

Mato was saying how he imagined Alekhine. I sometimes try to imagine what it would have been like if there had been today's social media back in the times of Alekhine, Lasker, Tal and Capablanca. What a treasure trove of videos that would be.

This looks kind of like a Morphy vs NN (Modified King's Gambit) where Morphy gives odds of the queen's rook and obliterates his opponent within 10 moves. For the world champion to loose like this, Alekhine must have been suffering from something so debilitating that he couldn't focus or concentrate; or maybe he was extremely intoxicated.

2:16 black would play g2 discovered check from queen of h4 and if white captures the queen, black would capture the rook on h1 promoting his pawn to queen and he would win the rook. If white plays queen to g3 then black would capture the queen od g3 and when white captures the queen, black would capture the rook promote his pawn to queen and win the queen and the rook. If after g2+ Qg3 Qxg3+ white plays king to e2, then black captures the rook on h1 promoting his pawn to queen, white would capture the queen on g3, but still he would be queen and rook down. And if after g2+ white plays king to e2, black would capture the queen, and after white captures with knight, he would capture the rook on h1 with pawn, promote to queen and win the queen and the rook again. After g2+ Ke2 Qxg4 white could move his king (because it's check) then white would capture the rook on h1 promoting to queen and after knight takes queen black wins queen and rook. Or he would move the queen from the attack of the knight, then bishop will capture on g2 but he would win bishop, not rook because he'll move his queen somewhere on g- line.

Why is there so much hatred for Aljechin? He was one of the best chessplayers ever! Maybe he was not that nice away from the board, but that would be nobody's business. He even was graceous in defeat. According to Max Euwe he was very polite and cogratualted him on his victory at the Championship. Couldn't happen today, I guess^^
@claytonbenignus46882 жыл бұрын
Alekhine made enemies as a propagandist for the Nazis. His anti-Jewish writings attacked Jewish Player, in particular Reti. Some Jewish players, Reuben Fine in particular, treated Alekhine as a pariah. Fine, who was also a professional Psychologist, wrote some unflattering psychoanalytical prose on Alekhine. Botvinnik, also a Jew, was a realist and saw that the post-War Alekhine was a has-been, and challenged Alekhine in order to take his title quietly.
