Everyone today has heard of _The Matrix_ but those who didn't see it in theaters likely don't understand the kind of event this movie was. You didn't have these multi-film epics, leading into one another with cliffhangers. The idea that people would go to the theater to "see how everything ends" was extremely novel at the time. It was received similarly to how _Infinity Wars_ and _End Game_ are today.
@SpottedHares4 жыл бұрын
The saddest part of The Matrix is that it is remembered for all the wrong things. It is remembered for having participial effects, cool stunts, cool action. What it wasn't remembered for was being a epic three part story, not three movies. It was a story that began, and it was a story that ended with out changing it's self as a story.
@Vesohag4 жыл бұрын

But remember that they are not one! In fact, the various versions of Smith made through adaptations of the original personality of the base host, which may have previously been a human or a program... After all, Smith absorbed and modified everyone who lived in the Matrix... men, women, children (that part that hurts me the most) and the most diverse programs... For a human, in fact, this would be equivalent to rape, only worse than rape, because it would be a rape of the soul itself... It is recommended that the Architect later restores the individuals assimilated by Smith to their original form... perhaps rebooting them... This is even plausible with a program... but with humans? I doubt it would work on humans! At best, they would return with severe sequelae and brain damage, because life is not as plastic and adaptable as machines are...
@alexandermoriarty91676 ай бұрын
THE MEDIA CONSENSUS Now aside from the metaphors, because that's what the film is really about, Agent Smith ultimately represents (at least in this second and third films) the MEDIA CONSENSUS! The MEDIA reaches us through TV and the internet and as today it is almost entirely a cartel, it keeps bringing the same idea to everyone, but maintaining the appearance that there are several people talking about the same idea, when in fact it is not that! This, especially for weak minds, is fatal! Because from then on it starts to transform every individual who follows and watches and consumes the Media into a copy of itself! Sometimes with some flaws and sometimes perfect! Rare would be the individuals who resist, only awakened ones like Neo himself could! Then we see the unfair fight at the end, millions of copies of the Media Consensus against a lone awakened: Neo... Of course this is an exaggeration to increase the epic level of the film's ending, because in fact, many people manage to wake up! But still, the fight to try to wake up the rest of the population is almost an impossible fight, because there are millions of zombies against a few hundred awakened ones!

Here is the explanation for why Neo being copied kills Smith, remember these quotes from the second movie: " You destroyed me, Mr. Anderson. After that, I understood the rules, I knew what I was supposed to do, but I didn't. I couldn't. I was compelled to stay, compelled to disobey. And now, here I stand because of you, Mr. Anderson. Because of you, I'm no longer an Agent of this system. Because of you, I've changed. I'm unplugged. A new man, so to speak. Like you, apparently, free." and also this one: " But, as you well know, appearances can be deceiving, which brings me back to the reason why we're here. We're not here because we're free. We're here because we're not free. There is no escaping reason; no denying purpose. Because as we both know, without purpose, we would not exist......It is purpose that created us.....Purpose that connects us.....Purpose that pulls us.......That guides us......That drives us...... It is purpose that defines us.......Purpose that binds us. .....We are here because of you, Mr Anderson. We're here to take from you what you tried to take from us.......[Attempts to copy himself into Neo]....Purpose." Essentially Smith could not be deleted because his program's purpose was not done. Therefore his file became "corrupted", he was programmed to kill the one (albeit not knowing Neo was the one to begin with), and as "the one" became more and more powerful, Smith's corrupted file allowed him to copy himself and become powerful in response. He could "choose" not to or override deletion because his purpose was not achieved. That's why they are opposite sides of the same coin as the Architect explained. Once Neo was assimilated, the "smith" program had finally achieved "-purpose". The loop was terminated, the program could now be deleted by the main machine frame (where Neo was connected). That's what Oracle's words revealed to Neo, " Everything that has a beginning has an end Neo". Neo realized all he had to do is to achieve program Smith's purpose, which was killing Neo. This would mean the end for both of them. Of course the concept is a nod to the story of Christ, Mithra , Ra, etc. He sacrifices himself for the world so they could be reborn of their corruption.

People don't dislike the first movie at all. As for the second and third one, they made too much of it boring exposition. And this is coming from me, someone who's watched this trilogy many times. I love these movies, but fuck is the second and third movie boring a lot of the time. Also a lot of the second and third movie's CGI doesn't hold up well.

The setup for the battle was unreal. It was a bit of a disappointment but it still gave me the chills. I believe Neo should have fought every Smith, like the second movie, but on a bigger scale. Unlike then however, there was no running back.

The put alot of effort in creating everything into this film. Sure it wasn’t the blast hit that was the first matrix but u gotta give em credit for the effort they put in special effects not just cgi They made all those smith clones using materials en people in suits. I don’t think people from today even want to try making special effects that way.

This will forever be the greatest final battle in the history of story telling. Literally no two characters meeting in any setting to do battle with these stakes come close to this. The atmosphere, the challengers, the story, the setting, the history, the music, the tone, dialogue, stakes, everything here is literally a moment in time to cherish.

What were they expecting for $30 million. Any DB movie needs $200 million to be done right, and the rights to DBZ.
@Herm.Q-925 жыл бұрын
@@mafiaps31, I feel they'd have to speed up some sequences of fighting scenes since humans obviously can't fast enough to get on par with DBZ style fights, but also throw in a couple of slow-mo scenes for balance. So this plus what you mentioned and boom, you can potentially make a live action DBZ film work. I think casting would be a potential hurdle to overcome. Since Goku isn't Japanese (Obviously), I wonder who'd be a good person to play him (And Vegeta) and I wonder how they'd go about handling the hairstyles and SSJ transformations. My bad went off on a tangent there.... 😶

1:26 Interesting story. My housemate was one of the Agent Smiths here in the background back in my college days. He had to shave his hairline to look like Hugo Weaving for over a month beforehand. It was pretty funny seeing him go to class each day with a receding hairline. He told me that it was the most bizarre experience waiting around as an extra for their scene to be shot... as everyone was the same height and build and everyone had the same haircut. They played cards and spent many hours together being plied with food and drinks to keep them happy... then had to stand there in the rain for take after take... all day.
