Nakamas, I have an announcement for you all. For the past few years, I've been working on a project to help all of you become fluent in Japanese, and it's finally ready to roll out. The time has come for me to move my Japanese learning content to a new platform called Skool. Skool is basically a place for me to publish my new library of courses & resources and also build a community of dedicated learners on the path to Japanese fluency! For early adopters reading this post, I am offering a FREE TRIAL right now, for a limited time. And don't worry, you can cancel anytime. Join here: www.matsusama.com/ If you join my Skool, you'll get access to my new, growing library of courses (over 10 hours of content - I have reworked and refilmed all of my current courses AND published more, including more complex grammar) and a community platform of like-minded people and resources. Basically, you'll be able to take my courses, make posts, share, and interact with me and everyone else like our own Japanese learning social media! You will get: ✔ My active presence & feedback on your comments and questions ✔ KZbin-style editing with formal course value & mini quizzes ✔ Real-life applications to improve your cultural IQ ✔ Gamify your training arc with leaderboards and a path to fluency ✔ Tips and support from our highly motivated community ✔ Discuss travel, living & working in Japan ✔ TA-style drill courses in every course to actively review, drill, and quiz yourself ✔ Test your reading, writing, and translation skills with flash practice ✔ Downloadable charts, learning resources, and exceptions I love being able to teach you guys and see your comments through my KZbin channel, and that won't be going anywhere. I hope you can join me on this next big step in your training arc to fluency. I truly value all of your support, and I can't wait to teach you with new and improved material and formats in Skool! これからも、よろしくおねがいします!

I've always wondered in the high school settings, why the students seem to live alone and you never see the parents? And my husband the anime fan says, "Because they're at work."

@@veiserexab1428 There is a story that it originated with Japanese novelist Natsume Soseki. Google it. The origin story may or may not be true. But in modern culture it has been used as a poetic way to say "I love you." "tsuki ga kirei, desu ne." You hear it in anime and dramas a lot. Oddly, the first time I heard it explained was in a Korean rom-com, "Love is a Bonus Book". Both characters worked at a publishing company, so they were aware the Soseki quote.

The mental romance development approach is definitely preferable to the modern Western approach of focusing on the physical. Relationships formed on physical attraction alone often fall apart because that physical attraction has waned, while relationships built on mental attraction tend to have a greater degree of binding platonic love backing it up. And the fact that confessions are seen as normal is great - situationships just suck. We used to have a similar culture in the West, but modern liberalist culture has destroyed that. Quite sad.

Agree Love now Its All Materialistic Because of Liberalism Bu bro Even the Old Traditional Relationship still needs fixing In some Issues. Like How To Prevent Infidelity between man and woman Just because they are mentally attracted to each other Doesn't mean That's the only Condition its not the End . Because then The Mentality they have Can be shared by many people so Infidelity is Still possible. If Husband Finds Another Similarly mentality woman and They get Attracted or The Opposite With the Wife and another Man. I think Religion is The Right Moral Objective standard which gives us The exact and perfect Marriage system which Respect Human Values and Protects Both man and woman along with the society. But Not all religions Are right ofc The one religion that really makes order in Humans Lives is God's religion. And I Advice You To Search About the Monotheistic doctrine Of Islam Which is The religion am meaning by God's and You could Search abt it And Ask questions abt it Its Not Blind Faith Its a History of Knowledge Gathering and Preservation and years of asking And searching and Learning . And The marriage love System in islam is The Perfection literally. Search for it Youll be impressed

One observation from someone who spent a whole three weeks (as opposed to, you know living there) touring Japanese schools as part of a teacher exchange a couple of decades ago. While uniform skirts are officially longer, there were a lot of girls who “modified” their skirts to be shorter. According to one teacher they would roll them at the waist. One girl who I still remember was walking around with a blanket. I asked a Japanese teacher about this thinking that she was cold. Nope! She carried it because she had shortened her skirt so much that she would flash the class when she sat down. Therefore, she carried the blanket to cover herself when she sat down. I will state that this was a lower to mid level high school. I did not notice this when we toured one of the upper level high schools. Although even there virtually not a single girl wore their skirt at the length of the standard skirt (as displayed on the mannequin at the school entrance). Take this for what it is worth.

As someone who has went to private schools for middle school and high school that required uniforms in America and knowing other people who went to private schools as well, I feel like a lot of the anime tropes when it comes to uniforms are more of thing here. This is just from my experience so I can’t speak for everyone. I did see a lot of short skirts, it’s not common but it’s also not rare. At my school they were technically not allowed but most teachers don’t bother enforcing it. Same with accessories you were allowed to have them anything goes. You were also allowed to have dyed hair as well. Tattoos were allowed as well with permission.

I have a question and would be super happy if you reply. In the Yu-Gi-Oh manga in one chapter a teacher checked the belongings of their students (reason: power abuse) and stated that condoms was one of the "forbidden items" at that school. Can this be true? (From all what I have read about Japanese schools it seems this could at least be possible I think. Note Yuugiou was written in the ninties and the author was born in the sixties) and generelly East/SE Asian schools tend to want students to focus solely on studying (I mean for e.g. no nail polish, no makeup, no dyed hair are kinda common, rules for boys how long their hair is supposed to be etc) but is it possible that some will check your belongings and that condoms are forbidden? I would like to know for you are Japanese and addressing the topic.

It's amazing the exaggeration that happens in high school media in general. Growing up going to American highschools me and many others always laugh about how the sharp differences between the cliques is so silly. There are nerds, jocks, preppy girls etc but they aren't held by hard borders and often you have nerds that hang with jocks alot and vice versa. I knew lots of people growing up both on the football team and the e-sports team. Bullying definitely happens but usually isn't clique based, usually its the majority of all students deciding certain inviduals are just strange.

That does put some characters in perspective. Sometimes there'll be a character in anime that's kind of rude or pretentious, but they're very talented and perhaps top of their class, and everyone praises them anyway. In America, that person probably wouldn't be very popular. We just value people who are pleasant and fun to be around

I have watched a lot of anime and i think i have an idea on what japan will really look like on reality base on some animes that has more darker content and consistent anime scenes and events.. so i know that it will not be as fun as the anime portrays I hope theres more content like this .. where you compare things from anime ..

The romance in japan according to your describing is simply how romance should be in general I live in an eastern country and we tend to take the same approach... Not because we can't but because we don't want to rush, we think carefully to pick the right person, and we don't use our partner as a "material for pleasure and to show off" like the west (especially the U.S) does
