As the Try Wives, how much influence have you had on The Guys over the last 10 years in ideas for videos, shows, and general decisions affecting the company/2nd Try, etc., whether it be steering The Guys away from trouble/dangerous ideas or planting ideas that eventually made it into their content?

Advice needed from yall! Over the summer I got married to the love of my life! We’ve been together for 5 years and now have finally got married! Before this we have both always lived at home with our parents. My parents are first generation immigrants and so it’s more tradition that I stay home until I got married (and cheaper too lol) The year being engaged was amazing, the wedding was amazing, but now it’s been 3 months since and I am having a hard time adjusting not living with my parents anymore. I lived with my parents, my 3 siblings, and our dog. Our house was always busy and there was so much to do!! Now living in an apartment with my husband, I find myself crying randomly bc I feel lonely and just feel like it’s so much change. My husband is being so patient with me and so supportive by saying we’ll go visit them tomorrow, but I am still adapting. I feel bad bc he feels like it’s his fault (which it isn’t) and I just miss living with my best friend (my mom!!) I feel like someone should have warned me about this phase! How was it for you all when you moved away from home, and how did you adjust? Thank you and I loooove you all and the show💓🫶🏽

😂 I'm sorry, but listening to Matt talk about hiking in the rain up a mountain made me giggle. I am Norwegian, and rain and hail are not fun, but we are used to it. 😁and listening to Matt calling Stavanger "small" one of our bigger cities being called small is very weird 🙃
@barmhjertige13 ай бұрын
Same!!! I was like «wait… but it’s one of the bigger cities we have😢» hahahha. But I guess in comparison to US cities it is veeery small. And ooof hiking in rain, idk if I would have done it, so kudos to them!

About the licorice! It's a sweet that packs and stores well, and it's very strongly flavored so a little will last a long time. Very popular with sailing-based European cultures! That's why it's so common in Iceland, too.

Rhubarb saftevand aka juicewater (lol danish haha) is amazing, guys you are missing out. It’s like a concentrate you mix with water. Like making jam, you put chopped rhubarb with sugar and water, but add more water. Let it boil and then sieve the mushy rhubarb. And there you go! Great for cocktails too. Such a summer hit here in Denmark. I also make elderflower saftevand, it’s really easy

Ok I don’t think you will answer this (and I understand why), but do any of you keep in touch with Ariel? I just want to know how she is doing and make sure she is ok.
@jmason17703 ай бұрын
You're right they're not going to say anything. She asked for privacy and that's what they have been doing. When/if she ready she's free to speak for herself.

They very likely keep in touch as they were friends and not just colleagues, but everyone has a right to privacy and Ariel doesn’t want to speak out, or be spoken about, at this moment at least.

I'm the same as Matt, I fall asleep in any moving vehicle (as long as I'm not in the driver's seat). Trains, planes and automobiles... I'm eating salty liquorice as I listen to the pod! Also, we have amazing tap water in northern Europe, no need to buy water.

Matt buying new clothes for hiking because his didn't work is like the embodiment of a popular Norwegian saying "there's no bad weather, only bad clothes" (which sounds better because it rhymes in Norwegian)

Glad you guys had a nice trip despite the bad weather! Matt saying Stavanger is really small gave me a chuckle! I’m norwegian, and when I went to Stavanger as a teen I always felt like «wooow, I’m in the big city!» Haven’t visited pulpit rock myself, even though I’ve lived like a few hours away from it my whole life lol.

People eat licorice because it was used as a rememedy for sore throats, the same is the case with the ammoniumchloride in the salty licorice.

I make a ginger rhubarb jam. I really like it on toast with peanut butter in the morning. That or I freeze it to add to pies or crisps throughout the winter. My mom has a grape vine & she juices them & then makes grape jelly. Both of those take time though, but then you can give them away as presents.

Okay so just throwing this out there for the produce question- Roasted Grapes can pair really well with Roast Chicken! If you've got friends coming over for a meal and want to make a "Show Stopper" or easy main dish (just add a little thyme or rosemary, drizzle everything with some olive oil and bake until the chicken is cooked through and crispy). You could also make roasted grapes for a cheese platter- or even with polenta and some cooked greens as a vegetarian or vegan entree (DO NOT USE THE RHUBARB GREENS- THOSE ARE POISONOUS).

Anise, licorice root, and dill all grow easily in Scandinavia. Traditionally, not a huge range of other things do! Most regional preferences have to do with historical availability.

I think you're forgetting that a lot of people outside of the US is consuming the entertainments industry which in many ways is based in LA so therefore I would argue that LA is more well known and visited than Texas. As a Scandi I've heard more people who have been to LA than Texas. Texas may have a more distinct kitchen and because of that it's easier to niche a restaurant after that cusin. It doesn't mean it's more well known.

It would be great if you could have a climate scientist on the pod! Would be such an interesting & important discussion! As for questions, here are a few ideas : how do you try to reduce your environmental impact in your day to day life? How do you feel social justice & inclusivity relates to climate justice (lgbtq+ rights, anti-racism, indigenous communities etc)? For Maggie, as a nurse what do you think should be improved in the american healthcare system? What did all of you learn from your travels in terms of quality of life compared to the US (including what you may have disliked)? How do you experience and try to honor you or your partner's cultural identity (Maggie 's Peruvian identity and Eugene's South Korean identity for example)?

@jessikahobbs20253 ай бұрын
@@pollenbeau8917Whatever you think you heard that is close to that does not mean what you think it means. Japed: past tense of jape, meaning to “say or do something in jest or mockery;” or Japped: “jap (japs, present participle japping; past and past participle japped) (North America, ethnic slur, slang, transitive) To carry out a sneak attack upon (something or somebody).”
@jessikahobbs20253 ай бұрын
@@pollenbeau8917Also, “gypped” does have that definition. It’s a slur because “gyp” comes from “Gypsy” who were/are characterized as being swindlers, thieves, etc., which is why the word means to be cheated out of something. Most people are unaware of the etymology of this word.

Such a shame to hear a slur (g*pped) in an otherwise fun and pleasant episode. Please educate yourselves and don't do it again, it's hurtful to the Romani people.
