Very good selection of shoes. 2024 was a great year with lots of options. For me Adizero SL2 was the best value in daily trainer category and I am glad it made it to your list. I think Mach 6 is also very good option looking for a lower drop shoe. Until SL2 came out, I was thinking Mach 6 would grab that spot. Adidas did such a great upgrade to SL2. I did try Mach X2 and I agree with the propulsive bounce but I did feel the lose heel hold. I held X3 in my hand and yes, they did fix the heel counter. Cielo X1 2.0 is a good improvement as well, lighter, a bit more foam and better upper. I also like your choice of racing choice. Metaspeed Sky Edge is a great shoe. ASICS finally put Edge on the same level as Sky in their Paris versions.

Hoka has a few good things coming in 2025 with the Mach X3 and Cielo X1 2.0. I hope I get to see if they live up to my own expectations! Glad to hear you agree about the Sl2! I especially like that it's a great shoe at an affordable price. I sometimes feel bad that I run in and test these expensive shoes that are out of reach for so many runners!

Totally agree on some!! NB SC Trainer 3 is awesome and comfy...my go-to daily trainer (non plated) is Hoka Mach 6. It feels SO good!! But for races, I'm all Saucony Endorphin line, which sadly didn't make your cut.

@@katycook7725 It’s difficult for me to put my finger on it, but the Endorphin Pro/Speed 4 just didn’t seem special for me this year. I can still recognize they’re excellent, but I thought compared to similar shoes they weren’t my favs. Glad to hear the SC Trainer v3 works well for you! 🙌🏽

Great list, Matt! And I completely agree a couple of them. My race shoe(s) for the year did NOT make my fav list -Saucony Endorphin Pro 4. Also ran in the 3’s which are great, but old. Brooks is my shoe brand of the year! Can’t believe I’m saying this… but the GMax is just a fantastic shoe. Just under 100 miles and perfect. HMax2 is my other fav… almost perfect speed work shoe! I’d love to get a pair of the SL2’s as well as the Metaspeed Paris Edge but good luck -can’t seem to find them in stock 😂 Jury is out for me with Hoka… too many disappointments last couple years. But will try them again one day! Great rundown, as always. Thanks again, Matt!

This year on my mind are the glizzy max and the Hyperion max 2 the Hyperion max is definitely a firmer ride. My race day shoe is still the endorphin pro 3. I feel like there are lots of great daily trainers out there and the meta speeds were just slightly to unstable for me and at my snails pace almost any shoe would do. Lol was going to go with the 👟 emoji for today.

I recently discovered the New Balance SC Trainer v3, and the shoe has grown on me over time; it’s now one of my favorites as well! Have you noticed that they appear to wear out more slowly than other shoes in the same category?

Glad to hear the SCTv3s are working so well for you. Tbh no, I haven't noticed they wear any slower than others, but I run in so many different shoes (for testing) that I'm probably not the best person to ask.

@@MyFatAdaptedLife IMO, the Hyperion 2 this year is like an improvement on the Hyperion Max from last year. Brooks completely changed the HM2 this year when they added the plate. I made this video instead of a shoe of the year. I suppose though, if I had to choose one it would be the SL2.

I think Hyperion Max 3 will be a great shoe. V1 was a bit more agile shoe than V2. V2 is still more different than v1 and v2. It is getting more stack but also getting a layer of PEBA foam (DNA Gold) for more energy return.

SL2 over the Evo SL?? I prefer the Sky Paris, would be interested in seeing you compare it to the Edge! Do love the Mach X 2 despite the rough upper (so glad next year they are changing it!)..I quite like the Zoom Fly 6 because of its comfort over the Mach X 2. Surprised you not selected the Superblast 2 but I am a fan of the Brooks Glycerin Max! I need to try the HOKA Skyward X!!

@@michaelk6300 I thought about it, but I thought it was unfair to include them because so few people had them at the time I made this video. Also, if I don’t consider the appearance (the Evo SL is subjectively better), the SL2 (especially when on sale) make them an amazing deal!

$200 Brooks and $225 Hoka max stack daily trainer is insane. You can get a NB More V4 for $80 and you won't notice the difference except for a fatter wallet.

Wow! What a lineup! There’s no going wrong in any of those. The heel slip in the Hokas seems to be a thing for me. Almost every pair that I’ve worn in the last couple years have worn inside from my foot slipping inside the heel cup. Cliftons, Arahi, and Bondis. I feel the slip in the Skywards and the machs as well. I’ve never gotten any blisters from them but they just don’t feel locked in. It’s definitely not a problem for me. I just know that when they get up there in mileage I’ll be seeing the plastic on the inside 😂

I didn’t know you had a heel slip issue in the Hokas that have padding! Obviously you’re not the only one and I’m sure Hoka is working on it. The new Bondi drops in Januaryso we’ll see if any changes have been made.

@ it is an issue of sorts. But without any blisters or any other problems I just look past it. The Hokas have worked so well for me otherwise. I do love them!

I would recommend the MagMax. It definitely feels softer with a little more bouce at slower speeds. The Gly Max excels when you start to pick up the pace a little (at least for a daily trainer).

Interestingly i don't run in any of those shoes. I'm more of a puma, NB type guy. Favorite shoe is the Rebel 3 right now. NB just restocked the Elite 4 so I think I'll get one for my April marathon before they disappear. Not a lot of choices in NZ. NB is 50 bucks cheaper than asics and after V1 Sky and Edge I just don't trust it to go the distance of a marathon.

I’ll be boring and say that I still stick to my kinvara 14 (when will you do a 15 reviews?) for speed work and racing. For long runs the Salomon aero glide and the saucony triumph 21 are my selection. Kinvara pro will soon join the rotation, I am too curious and liked your review of them.

@@avifrunner I didn’t get a chance to test the Kinvara 14 this year, but I liked the Kinvara 13 and Kinvara Pro! I’ll definitely review the K15 if I can get my hands on a pair. You’re right about needing more space, although I give a lot of shoes away to make room for the new ones coming in. I’m not one of those reviewers that keeps years worth of the same model. I usually get rid of them when a new model drops.
