Euro circuit: london, berlin, paris, Amsterdam, and then maybe a scandi/eastern option American circuit: boston, chicago, ny, cim, mexico city and a Canadian one Africa circuit: cape town and a few others (not sure what other big ones there are right now) Asia/Australia circuit: sydney, tokyo, bejing, one of the big south asian events

it's not about being greeted properly. it's just super awkward. like, I'm trying to ask if my contact person is there, but everyone in the booth is busy talking with other people. so after like ten minutes of no one talking to me, I film whatever I think might be interesting and then just leave.
@NG_ArkАй бұрын
@ fair. Was being a bit facetious however totally get the dynamics of the relationship you have with brands. It is interesting the difference between shoe brands and clothing to your comment. I wonder why, other than the 3rd party use.
@AuDHDRunnerАй бұрын
As much as these major marathons cost, they should just do a multi-star medal for people every step of the way. 2 star, 3 star, etc. Then the number doesn't matter and yes they can just be custom depending what majors the person has. That's a lot of different metals to produce but really we are talking a few dollars for something meaningful to everyone in every step of their journey when they are already shelling out thousands.

I really don’t think cost of traveling is the number one barrier for those who want to run all six or nine majors. Rather, it’s the lottery. As record number of people register every year, the acceptance rate keeps getting lower and lower. Hence, I agree with Kofuzi that it will be a lifelong journey. Even after someone gets into a race, that person will have 6 to 12 months to save up, which under normal circumstances should be plenty of time. Btw, I think Abbott did say that there will be a 9 star medal, just nothing in between.

Anyway, as always what a great video - you really make us feel like we are there with you the way that you do trhese.

@ 18:32,On Cloudsurfer 2??? How could that be when the last version was called the On Cloudsurfer 7.
@kofuziАй бұрын
Depending on your global region, numbering for the cloudsurfer seems to vary. In the US, many On models just keep getting called the same thing, kind of like cars. A Mustang is always called the Mustang. But in contrast to cars, a Mustang might be distinguished by its vintage or year, but On shoes are just confusingly never given updated numbers in the US. But in the UK and EU, it seems that running shoe websites more clearly indicate which number of Cloudsurfer they are on. Cloudsurfer 2 is a vernacular that I used (I don’t recall now what On called it) to signify an update from the Cloudsurfer from last year (which was profoundly different from prior years)
@AmBr-y3jАй бұрын
@kofuzi I see your point, because I don't remember an On Cloudsurfer 1 thru 6 either. 😅

Will miss your coverage of TRE if you do decide not to go anymore but I can't fault you for it. Family time and new adventures are more important, and it seems like they're showing less and less to the public as time goes on (which I get, as much as I'd like it to be, it's not for consumers) so the content would be less about the shoes I feel like. Nice review. However one of my take aways is that running is becoming more of an elitist sport. The huge expense of traveling to the major marathons is but one example (let's not forget the environmental impact). Additionally shoes are becoming increasingly expensive as they seem to be adding bells and whistles. Even standard everyday races are becoming more costly. With 50 years of running behind me I increasingly believe that the simplicity of running is what makes it such a great sport.
@kofuziАй бұрын
I hear you. Local or smaller races are always a great option for those worried about carbon or cash costs. And a positive effect of the running club boom is that running is becoming more inclusive to more paces and more price points than ever (most new running clubs are free to attend) Sure, there are expensive ways to run and enjoy the sport. But just as Satisfy is one way that a person can choose to express themself in running, these other more expensive ways of running are not the only way that a person can express themself. Like, I don’t begrudge people who run in Satisfy apparel, but it’s not for me (I have declined multiple invitations to test their apparel, although I probably will run in the Mafate x Satisfy collab shoe, as it is substantially different than the existing Mafate 4)
@jimoconnor8597Ай бұрын
6 Star is just a money grab IMO. Sydney 26.2 does not count towards the 6 STAR medal. I ran there this year and received my star. There will be a 9 Star medal soon per WMM. Thomas fails to mention the money to get INTO the race, beyond the entry fees. Influencers get free bibs. Bibs are hard to come by overseas, charity is $10,000+, and lotteries are a joke. As a faster runner, there should be a time entry into overseas majors for North American runners like we offer for Boston. Sore spot for me and many mid pack and faster runners that can't "buy our way into" the majors. Not a judgement against anyone but the WMM process. PS Satisy looks awesome but $200 for shorts???? Yeah, not for us regular runners.

Strange to see two American’s complain about having to travel to run a ‘major’…. This is coming from an Australian.
@kofuziАй бұрын
I feel like you’re criticizing us, but my entire point supports your critique. We’re in alignment here. Sydney is a good addition precisely because it alleviates the travel burden the running world bears due to the current format. If a person, in Australia for example, just wants to experience a Major Marathon just once, they now no longer have to travel to the literal other side of the planet to do so. And I think that’s great.
@savantGK3Ай бұрын
I know it's been a thing for a long time, but honestly wish brands would take the word "embargo" out of their vocabulary in 2025. Nothing more eye-roll inducing than "here's a line of new products, but we're only going to show influencers/connected people, and they can tell you how awesome it's definitely going to be, but you're not allowed to see it." 🙄 Just announce it when it's ready for market. Between all the embargos and brands like Adidas intentionally limiting releases to build hype (a la Evo SL) I'm just starting to tune out of the shoe game. I'll check it out if/when I catch it in stores.
@kofuziАй бұрын
it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation, for both brands and the content creator. if the brand doesn't send it/show it early, then creators won't have sufficient time to test and understand the product. and you end up with a bunch of parroted PR talking points with isn't helpful for anyone. brands, content creators, and consumers want for media to be able to relay actual lived experiences. but when a brand does send things early, those testers get excited to talk about things they enjoy in the subject matter areas where they are passionate. so it's tempting to push and prod at the boundaries of the embargo. so if I were a brand, I'd be super strict about embargoes and make it so that you have to pretend that you know absolutely nothing. no hints. no photos. no teasers. no mentions. you have to pretend it doesn't exist. . things get annoying when embargoes are squishy and different people are doing different things
